I hope not. I much prefer the MW over the Badlander. Not that the Badlander is "worse", but I'm not even sure as to what makes a Badlander a Recto to begin with, personally.
The 805 is great. There is more gain range than my TS808, meaning it's cleaner when the drive knob is set low, and more when the knob is set higher. It has the EQ section which is very usable and intuitive, but even if you "clone" an 808 with the 805's EQ section it still has its own character...
I wasn't really recommending the ZW for the TT. It was good with the DT, but I feel like it would just thin out the TT too much, same as TS-types.
As far as OD's that have more neutral mids, I think OCD might be worth taking a look at. Or maybe a TS-type that has EQ capabilities like the Duncan...
Yeah, I'd assume a mid boosting pedal into a mid boosted amp would sound like listing through a telephone speaker.
Keep in mind, though. The Klon is also mid boosted, just in a different kind of way.
My Dark Terror loved my Wylde Overdrive, but the Dark Terror had a way to offset the...
I actually have an AT-1 in my Strat, and while I do find the attack smoother like the Antiquity JB, I find it has less low-end and output than either the Ant or the regular JB.
Killer pickup, though.
I do have a regular Custom lying around and an A5 magnet to swap in. Maybe I should.
I will say, I didn't like the ceramic Custom, LOL. It's too thuddy and not very JB-like at at all. But maybe A5 would make it closer to the JB. One thing that I worry, though. It's definitely not going to be as...
I used to have a 20HR, and I didn't like it. The bass was very thuddy rather then punchy. My biggest gripe, however, was the mids. It seemed like the mid knob had no sweet spot. Like it was centered around a weird frequency where boosting them made the amp sound super stuffy or scooping them...
That whole record is like that. It's killer. But it's their only record like that. Their other stuff is more like Melodic Death Metal meets Black Metal. Pretty cool, but very different-sounding.
I keep reading it's all sorts of stuff. 5150 by some accounts. Marshall 6100 by others.
I know they used the "Frankencab" which was two Marshall cabs gaffer taped together and then some Marshall Mini Stack blended in.
I have the plain old new production JB in my Les Paul. I like it, but I like the Antiquity JB in my LTD better, honestly. The LTD is fatter acoustically, and the Antiquity is a bit smoother (and overall more interesting, TBH), so by comparison, the Les Paul, which is naturally bright with the...
I long sold my Klon-types. They're great, don't get me wrong, but I found the amps that I like (5150 and Recto) get along better with Tube Screamer types.
Out of the two that I had, the Archer and the Zeus, I liked the cheapie Zeus better, to be honest.
I liked 1 the best. It seemed the most up-front and with the most bite.
I wanted to say 3, but it has something going on in the mids that I don't quite love. Straight cab kinda mids.
The Full Shred Neck shouldn't be hotter than the Jazz Neck. They're allegedly the same coils and same magnet, only difference is the polepieces.
So if the Jazz balances, so should the FS-N.
