New Faces? Why are You Here?

New to Rig-Talk here. I joined because I find the conversations more interesting. Plus I love the public roasting of scammers 🤣🔥. The Classifieds section is better too. Glad to be a part of the community and looking forward to popping my noobie cherry.

    Badlander 25

@Racerxrated having a speaker close to the tubes can enhance the effect of a microphonic tube. Here’s a short YouTube video so you can hear/see what I’m referring to.

I did the same thing with my TC100. They really voice that amp for that tube.

    Badlander 25

It sounds great with those EL34's. I have a TC100 and recently tried a quad of JJ 6l6GC's in it. It sounded more scooped with better deeper/looser bass, but the amp lost some of its liveliness. If you try it with the 6L6's I'd recommend hitting it with a boost to get some of the mids back.

@UberschallEL34 sounds killer in the room. Was your 100 loaded with EL34's or 6L6's?

NAD x 2 More MK Boogies

@PurityS.L.G some of the early No Stripes came with 105 Power Transformers, the same ones used on the IIC+. I own 2 DRG No Stripes with 105 PT's and a III+ HRG Red Stripe. They're all awesome amps. Red Stripe with no reverb and a long head too... You got an awesome Mark III. As for the...

    Badlander 25

I get why people buy them (portability), but for metal, the inherent added microphonics combos introduce are such a poor trade off.

What year is my Boogie cab? Should I change the speakers?

If they sound good keep them. Being that they're from 2008 I'd imagine they've got quite a bit of mileage on them. Speakers become sweeter sounding/less harsh with age because they loosen up over all the hours of play. The best sounding V30's I ever played were beat to sh!t from all the...

Megadeth Rust in Peace Guitars only.

Nice share man! I bought a 1st run Jackson King V Pro (Japanese made in the Charvel Factory) back around 1995 from a pawn shop. Such a killer axe. I used to wonder why it had a Bill Lawrence in the neck. Then I caught an interview where Dave said he used the steel blades on the pickup as...

    Fuzz Pedals

I've owned quite a few fuzzes and love Cornell The 1st Fuzz. They're loaded with NKT275's and I always felt they flew under the radar. Unfortunately I sold an Analogman Sun Lion with stock White Dot NKT275's years back. That one was killer too, hence the cost of a kidney now. I'd highly...

Any pedal recommendation for a Mark III?

Your comment brings me back to the first time I plugged into my HRG Red Stripe after having the 3+ mod done to it. It smoothed out the stock aggressiveness of the amp in a good way and added a R2 volume pot which made all the channels useable. Glad you're enjoying your Green Stripe man...

    Badlander 25

Anyone out there try the Badlander 100 w/ 6L6's? I'd love to hear what you thought of it. I love my Dual Rectifier Rev F but always wished it was more articulate. Call me crazy, but I've never bonded with EL34's in it, which makes me skeptical to drop all that coin on an EL34 voiced...

Fryette Power Station: PS2 vs PS100 - Your preference?

Agreed the two channels of the PS100 are worth a couple extra bucks. I used it for a volume boost with my Blankenship Variplex. The fx loop is also a great feature but you'll get that on the PS2 as well. I've seen a couple gently used w/ box PS100's pop up for less than a new PS2.
