The 5153 and all modern amps do sound small compared to old school Marshall. I love modern pre-amp type amps, but honestly they are a different thing no matter what anyone claims.
I actually prefer it when the fill in player is different enough from the original. I don’t like exact copy players, because they are never quite there.
