Love El Cochino. Glad they finally released that album they recorded back in 2007… I’m still kicking myself for never keeping in touch after the implosion and forum, lost his e-mail. He had a real good thread about how he recorded everything.
They aren't what they used to be. However, his never were really "powerful," he growled pretty quietly. They always sounded great, regardless.
I liked the song. First thought in my head was why did he call the song 1 Simoleon.
I didn’t care for it at first until I tried the plugin and let my ears EQ, not my eyes, then it was a whole lot of pain over Herbert vs VHX for what I wanted to do.
I recommend the Ecstasy or Uber, and Deliverance modules since you already have the IICP. Ecstasy has two switches under the shield, one is for 100/101B modes, and the other is Air, which is sorta like a more open top end if I describe that correctly. Channel 1 on Uber can sound exactly like...
Hey Steve, I'm across the Potomac.
What are you looking for as far as settings in a spreadsheet, anyway?
I recommend to just adjust by ear for what you want, and don't be afraid of the GEQ/PEQ or even the global menu presence/resonance! Unless your end goal is to emulate others' tones.
I get it, but I didn’t think you implied any of that and I’m by no means a casual fan. The metal site I frequented and wrote for is long since gone, and never for a moment thought this’d be the place to discuss metal when I joined.
I didn’t take this as a roundtable discussion on how to make choices, I’ve listened to and still do listen to quite the spectrum, but I go back to the same albums which I listed.
To each their own, there’s just too many good choices, and eventually I gotta make a few specifically.
Tough to choose, but based on my historical listening:
Entombed - Clandestine
Opeth - Deliverance
Corrosion of Conformity - Blind
Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
Anata - Under a Stone With No Inscription
I first saw them in Hollywood during the Odyssey tour. They killed live, I love anything Odyssey and onward. Earlier stuff isn’t bad to me, but much prefer their later output.
