No one around here uses 412’s anymore really. I only ever see a couple every now and then. Haven’t used mine in many many years…..couple 212’s do the job.
With level up and drive off, they are all pretty much the same. Just pick up whichever one is available.
When I was at GIT my single string teacher Dan Gilbert had an original 808 and it was pretty killer. My favorite believe it or not is the TS5 Soundtank. The TS9 I have after I teaked it...
Yes there can be phase issues with a single source. Look at an on board acoustic guitar preamp sometime…see the phase switches on them? It makes a difference in both directions sitting there playing by yourself thru a pa/amplifier. They only have one pickup in most of those guitars too, so...
I was fortunate early on to play with good drummers that knew how to tune their kits, had good technique and time. A well tuned kit will sound great without having to kill them. If you are playing arenas, that’s one thing. But even then alot of them are using triggers and samples, so no...
So the Suhr is the load correct? Then adding the speaker in the thru is putting another “load” in parallel? If so, are you changing the impedance setting on the amp?
With my Powerstation, if running the line out direct and micing a speaker off the amp, I had to reverse the phase on the...
My ADA Flanger is AC powered too. You may have mentioned the 18 v mod before, interesting. That chorus could have been set on low, had it many years ago. Always wanted to try the micro, never have though.
I have that Limiter, Phase 90 and have had the Flanger and Chorus. The Chorus I had was really subtle, could barely tell there was any, maybe it was messed up. Got rid of the Flanger and Chorus.
For modulation…Dimension C, Ce2, newer Boss stereo chorus and flanger. Fave flanger is the old...
I had my whole cd finished with SD 3. Everything sounded ok except I could never find a snare I liked. Scrapped it and started over with a drummer and bass player. Sounds much better now.
Samples only sound ok to me when the parts are simple and slow. As soon as the hits get faster and...
I dunno. The 2210’s and Vintage Moderns sound pretty decent. 1959RR has a factory mod and sounds good. 2203’s seem to be liked by alot. 900’s yeah they sucked.
Have heard plenty of “modded” amps that sound like crap.
I play with a loud drummer, took the Princeton to practice and was shocked I could hear myself with it. It does record really well.
Also have a late 50’s early 60’s Gibson Discoverer. Supposed to be about the same watts. Nowhere near as loud, but some of that could be the speaker inefficiency.
