Are you lost? This isn't The Gear Page. An attitude like that isn't going to serve you well here.
Engineers drive me nuts sometimes, when they're so confident about a subset of things they think they know and fail to acnowledge the things they don't. Ego causes a perspective clash that I see...
We have great access where I live to long range shooting. A couple miles up the road is a very nice public range that has steel targets out to 2000 yds. Feel free to stop by if you want to stretch the big gun's legs AND play some Coli full stacks! We're also loaded up with wineries so the women...
Before the 460 I had the same model 500 that @rsm has. It was a fire breathing tack driver of a pistol that was easier to shoot than the 357 snub I was carrying at the time. Then I moved to carrying a larger frame 357 and that was much better. Ultimately though I did move to a G19 and didn’t...
There's an ass for every saddle! In hindsight I think my 460 just wasn't a good example. It was more attractive than it was functional. The fine people at the S&W PC shop did a stupid thing & fitted it with a lightweight hammer that was a problem seeing as how the 460 uses a rifle primer that...
There have been quite a few sell for 5 digits. Happy for those guys!
From my perspective as a player & gigger, not a collector, as soon as C+ prices are 5.5K and up in all honestly I'd happily take a RI instead. I have to look at them in terms of tone & feel relative to the price, which is...
I remember those days, and they're long gone!! Many of my Mark IIIs were sub-1K. Now I think sub 2K is a deal. Essentially and historically, IIIs have tracked about 1/3 the price of an equitable IIC+.
For sure. The V is missing some top end detail, but it has balls and doens't feel processed. I need amps that kick you in the chest when you chug.
YMMV of course.
My take is that the guys at Mesa & Gibson are playing the types of music they like, and there's no one at either place that plays / enjoys metal. They like their metal customers but it's just not in the front of their minds.
Assuming the current RI used price is $3300, here's where I'd value...
Interesting, thanks for the perspective. We definitely live in different musical environments. Everyone doing anything heavy is bringing a half stack, and I generally bring a full stack.
I could see the MkVII out punching a 50W Marshall. I'm suprised to hear you say it out punches your SLO...
Curious, have you ever gigged a Mark II, III or IV through a 4x12?
If you're coming from modelers, IRs and lunchbox amps, I can see how the VII is impressive. IMO however if you're coming from Mark IIs, IIIs or IVs it's a kinesthetic letdown. It's not that the VII doesn't have bottom end, it's...
Not all C+ were created equal either. There's a constant progression in tone from the very first Mark all the way to the IVb.
Then progression stopped.
