The used market is slowly chocking all those companies, that are thriving on their classics. The more they put out, the less they sell. It`s even worse in the guitar market. You can get used Gibson LPs from the 90ies all through the 2000s and 2010s nicely priced as they are not considered...
concerning quality, before transistors were developed, tubes were used in medical equipment or even airplanes. Now imagine flying a Mig jet and your on board electronics start to fail. Reliability was much more of a concern back then. Nowadays, if a tube fails in a Bugera no one, apart from a...
When producing amps on a larger scale, you can`t rely on parts that are per se limited. You need reliable sources and build your circuit/amp the best way possible around what`s available at the moment. A boutique builder that maybe puts out like 5-6 amps per year and has stacked up NOS parts can...
I have Tung Sol EL34 in my 2204 and really like them. I could try other tubes in the amp as I have some other brands at hand, but so far I had no desire
RFT are the easiest to spot, they have the smallest getter and star-like micas.
US tubes probably have made in USA somewhere written on it.
European tubes have codes. Tubes from the 60ies to 70ies can have I61 - I65 etched on the lower half of the tube that indicates the tube type. This code...
Yup, usually to steer shit to the doxxed person. This can be anything from ordering large amounts of food to his place, getting people to show up there in person for sole intimidation or even calling in the swat team = swatting (for example calling the police and reporting some case of hostage...
Looks like I`m in the minority here but I would go with the all maple neck.
The guitar already has a dark wood thing going on which is enhanced by the rosewood neck. The maple neck does lighten it up a bit, which I like.
so it boils down to either a RevG/Tremoverb or MW.
If you want the RevG orange channel tone, get the RevG. If you can live without it, get the MW. Keep in mind, you can not have a clean channel and orange channel on the RevG switchable by a FS and they share the same EQ.
The orange channel of the 2 channel rectos is the only sound, the 3 channels are not capable of to reproduce. Many people love or even prefer that tone to the red channel. But it`s not the non-NFB tone, that made the Rectos famous.
In your position, I would look for a Multiwatt. It will give you a Recto tone that is voiced similar to a RevF plus much more versatility. And, they are probably the easiest to find and a good start into the Recto territory.
If you don`t care about versatility, a Tremoverb, RevF or RevG would...
Both of the cabs look beat up and worn down. I had a 30th anniversary cab from the early 90ies loaded with g12t-75 that had the same push, but I stupidly sold it.
I just recently played a JCM900 4x12 from 94 and it did not blow me away. Never thought this is going to be another rabbit hole :(
Yes, I actually did this and the cab that pushes more in the lower department sounded darker when knocking on it. I did not mention this in the OT as it seemed kind of esoteric
I will have a look again at the cabs. Maybe there are small differences in the dimensions??? Will have a look as well on the back panel material (is it really the same) and maybe if the bracing if I can find some differences.
So far, a whole speaker swap is not an option because of the above...
I did not think of swapping the whole panel. Will look into this. But than again, I`m kind of hesitant to mess with that cab as I really like the sound.
Ok guys, I have two Marshall 4x12 cabs that were originally loaded with g12-65 speakers. One has the later, big recessed input terminal, the other the earlier small one.
The early one has a really nice response and feel in the bass and low mids register and it pushes a lot of air with my JCM800...
Try to solve your problems without pharmacy. Drugs only act against the symptoms, but not the cause.
Look into your eating habits, maybe there’s some stuff you react to? Carnivore diet may help or not, in some cases arthritis is facilitated by eating too much meat. Only way to find out is, to...
