I bought this Roasted Maple/Rosewood neck for another guitar but decided to try it on my #1. Kind of an unintentional stealthy logo. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve built maybe a dozen guitars and this neck just has it. It’s been on a few bodies.

I haven’t filed the nut slots and fully set up the new neck yet. Can’t really assess tone until then. But it feels great.

I think both look great .... if I had to choose ... I'd go Rosewood I think ....

I like the rosewood one better between them with that body. The second neck is nice too, but I feel like it's mainly the clash of the grain that doesn't do it for me as much. I would think the second neck would look really pretty on a solid color body with a black pickguard, maybe? Purple! Sparkly purple!

If the Rosewood neck stays on that Strat (which be decided by its tone) the Maple neck will go on a Fiesta Red offset Tele. No pickguard tho. That guitar has a very expensive 4A flamed Maple neck that I’ve never gelled with. And I think I don’t even like the look of a super flamey Maple neck anymore.

How do they sound? Is there a marked difference between the 2?
It’s hard to tell until I get it setup. Which will happen today.

I like both, but the different exposures on the pics make it hard to decide. I like the way the rosewood matches how the burst edges are darker in the 1st pic. Sorta the same with the other pic. I like how the lighter wood matches how the burst looks lighter.

Swapped around with the rosewood in the pic where the body looks lighter I don't think I would like it much. And the lighter neck would clash too much in the pic where the body looks darker.

It must have been daytime when I took the Maple pic.

Looks like I`m in the minority here but I would go with the all maple neck.
The guitar already has a dark wood thing going on which is enhanced by the rosewood neck. The maple neck does lighten it up a bit, which I like.

It’s amazing the difference a good setup makes. The neck sounded dead and thin at first but the action was around 1mm. No shim.

It actually played and full step bends didn’t choke out…but it was a thin/reedy mess. I play a little bit hard and hamfisted. I need some height. Now with action at 1.5mm-1.9mm it’s big, full, round. Sounds good acoustically. The pickups of course needed to be raised and it feels different due to different string height from body.

I also learned in the process that this Wilkinson works better with it leaning backwards on the deck. You know how Ed put the quarter on his guitar to level the trem? I put a 0.046” nut file behind the trem which leveled it perfectly. But the trem lost some of its wow-wow power. That’s a technical term, you guys know what I mean.

Well I'm sure they both sound good. It comes down to Maple for Trower and Rosewood for SRV..
Choose wisely.. LOL

That’s a really good looking guitar, I must say.
