I got one just like that around 2001 at the GC in Rockville, MD for $220. I didn't even play it, grabbed it and walked to the register. It had the earliest EMGs in it too, without the EMG logos on the covers.
Here's my C plate Pacer. I had it refretted as soon as I got it off eBay. It came with a very cool old SD pickup, but I forget the model #. I had Jalen build me a clear bobbin clone of the EVH Frankenstein pup, but with four conductor wire for coil splitting. This guitar SLAYS. Not for sale.
And the DSL50 was always the best amp for using up single power tubes, since each side is independently biased. So when I blow one in another amp where I have to replace with a matched pair or quad, I can use the leftover good ones in the DSL50 or two of them in the DSL100.
I got my last DSL50 here for $250. The seller had given up trying to fix it. My tech made it right for $50. I've had a lot of them. The best one I regret selling was the DSL100H. I did an OT and choke upgrade on it and it slayed all the others. You can still find the newer stuff pretty...
For normal practice I use a GK 250ML and play just loud enough to hear the songs I'm playing along with while wearing my Apple AirPods. When testing amps or just getting my thrills and the wife is away, it's full tilt with 100w Marshalls while wearing cheap foam earplugs.
Unscientific opinion here. I've never played one and I can't live with that many knobs. However, when I've seen local bands use them, the tone was totally awesome. I mean it was fan-effing-tastic.
Love, love, love him. I saw them open for AC/DC on the Who Made Who tour. Saw Akira play at the ESP booth at NAMM a while back. There had to be 500 people crammed in there and he received a huge hero's welcome. He just noodled a bit through a JCM 800. I still regularly play their stuff and...
I'm not broke at all. I just can't fit anymore guitars in my man cave. Mrs. Lee is busting balls non-stop about my clutter. I'm probably getting another Marshall tomorrow, worth around $1800 for a gun trade that I have $200 into. I can't stop. I'm actually storing ammo underneath furniture...
I've done it. I just happened to have a few min. to kill, walked into the one in Rockville, MD and they had a maple neck, beak headstock '83 Kramer Pacer with EMGs and OFR for $225. This was 20 yrs ago, so no chance of confusing it with the newer Gibson ones. I grabbed it, walked right to the...
The parts are fine. They're a chop shop (no offense intended) whose business model is to buy en masse at finished prices and then part the guitars out at huge mark ups, but less than Fender would charge for them.
Actually nothing ... to the circuit. The stock combo cab was pretty haggard, so I got a bare pine one from Rawcabs on eBay, put about 20 coats of Tru-Oil on it, five of shellac, polished and then all new hardware. Sounds absolutely amazing. I made a lot of mistakes, but it looks great from a...
I saw Vince's solo thing here two weeks ago. He really wasn't that bad and I had low expectations. I knew his backup band would be great and they were. Zoltan was just off the hook. IMHO, John5 can do no wrong. I don't know much of his work, but I've seen the crowds he draws at NAMM and...
