For what it's worth, back to the topic of 12AX7's, I replaced all my amps pre-amp tubes lately (I do this every few years) and I went with the Tung Sol 12AX7 brand. Although Ruby are out there and very common, to the best of my knowledge, Rubys are simply re-labeled Chinese generics... Chinese generics are good for gain and overdrive, but the Tungs come with more solid construction, a nicer tone, more efficient operating temps. They're costlier for sure, but hey, we didn't buy Diezel because they were cheap
