The first version of the V30, the 8 ohm Marshall vintage speakers. Very hard to find, and very different sounding than any other version. No spiky mids, like other recent V30s can have. These early ones are more like a perfected G12 65 to my ears. Very similar but with better, tighter low end. The later version Marshall Vintage is much brighter than these early ones. The formula/cone must have changed with the JCM 900 series as the cabs from 92-today have a much more extended high end.
The only Marshall that I liked with V30s was the Jubilee...until I found one of these 80s Marshall Vintage cabs. They like every amp I have; similar to my experience with 65s.
The only way to find one of these is a 1987 Jubilee 412 that is labelled AV/BV on the back tag; or a JCM 800 cab with the back tag listed as 280watts.
Unlike the 1992 to now AV/BV cabs that say 1960 Vintage on the front label.
Oh wow! Thank you for indepth answer! Would like to try ‘em myself one day.
