Chinese is always good in the cathode follower position. Long plate in the PI. Good call here. EI go microphonic easily. I like Mullard I61 or I63 Old Rosnov Tesla 32 codes have a place also
Currently digging RFT v1, Chinese v2, EI pi in the 4104.
Mullard, Amperex and Tungsram get swapped in v1 sometimes.
Rolled tubes in the SLO yesterday. Ended up with RFT v1, tungsram v2. So much more clarity than the stock JJs. GE in v1 and Chinese in v2 were great, too. Wonder if swapping the pi would make a change? Guess I can go find out...
I have an ‘82, 2204. Winged C el34s. I run tungsol -> jj -> sovtek lps. I hit it with an SD1. Level maxed, drive 8:00, tone 11:00. Then into a GE7 for leads with level a hair up and a frown. Also run a mad professor deep blue into the front for delay
