I just got a JT Mesa Triple Rec. I have a Gower Killer Kali being built along with an LSL guitar. And am on the waitlist for Hermansson for a 5 stage amp. So…good start to the new year.
How's the JT over stock? Been thinking of sending mine in eventually.

So, full disclosure, I never got a stock recto to sound right for me. I always was more used to a tighter attack and a lot more push in the mids like you would get from a marshall or a mark series. I picked up a full stack with the head and 2 metal grill mesa cabs (I wanted the cabs most but it was a package deal). I sent the amp in to JT figuring I might as well give it a shot.

It sounds significantly more aggressive and a lot tighter. This is how I wanted that amp to sound all these years. I need a bit more play time on it and really only had a chance to dork with it for a few minutes but so far it did exactly what I wanted. The mod was reasonable (350), and John was really nice to deal with.

^this is fairly true to how I am hearing it now

Find an electric guitar that fits me and works. Had a string of bad luck with used gear but not giving up (and not ruling out new gear). Mainly looking for a killer LPC and maybe a nice ESP V or Jackson Warrior. Seriously considering the white custom shop Warriors Axe Palace has.

Get a demo up of my '79 JMP 2204 and '74 Celestions to sell. Need to finish two things on the headshell I had made for the JMP.

Got new monitors and interface end of last year for more efficient recording and practicing. I want gear that I'll use and make the most of.

What’s the signal chain here? And what are you recording with? This sounds absolutely insane!!!

Haha I wish I could say this is mine. But it’s not. When I track I use an sm57 and a sen 421 through Manley tnt preamps for mine and a couple of distressors. I use a router 121 with the 57 on cleans.

Below are already in the works or paid for:
1) Marshall Plexi or 2204 Clone-Ceriatone 2204 on the way, if it doesn’t work a Plexi will be next.
2) KSR PA-50 Power Amp-have a gear friend fixing to sell me to use with tube preamps.
3) Custom Built Strat-friend and luthier is currently building it, hopefully have it in Feb.

Below items for home recording/practicing. I have to figure how to get these without getting divorced:
4) Mac
5) DAW
6) Interface
7) Mic

Swapping out a number of gear pieces through out my rig with an AxeFx II, this includes, wah, Volume attenuator pedal, buffer/tuner, 2 x G-major 2 units.. integrate the Axe Fx 2 to be used for boost, wah and effects with my Splawn nitro that's going to all be controlled with a Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro.

Probably a troy sanders jaguar bass, Thinking about a gibson eds doubleneck. Maybe a les paul axcess or a warmoth jazzmaster build but those are all that comes to mind.

Worked on my JCM800 cab yesterday. I installed some new speakers and upgraded to some Scumback Metal Handles. Also installed new back panel screws/dress washers. 2022 is going to be more about stashing money away and play what you have.

Quad Cortex on order - will pair it up with a Fryette LXII or possibly a PS100. Dumping the PRS MT15 and will get an 800 kit as my sole tube amp. Chubtone on order. That's my plan.....right now that is.

How do you like the Alnicos? What’d they bring to the mix?

I really like the Alnico / 75 mix. I had a pair of the Marshall Vintage G12's paired with the CB 12H-75's originally and it sounded great. With the Alnico's (to my ears at least) I get a tad darker sound, but in a good way. Also I get more clarity and note definition with a smooth top end. They are a great match with the high sizzle that I get with the CB 75's. I hope I was able to describe the mix for you, I just think they are a great match and they complement each other very well.

You did, and thank you. I’m intrigued by the Alnicos, and plan on trying some Golds in the near future.

I know there's a love / hate relationship for some on the Alnico's. I don't play in the super low drop tunings that some play in, so these work great for me. Hope they work out for you as well.

I was supposed to get a new 6505 shipped this week but checked zzounds and it's no longer showing a ship date.

Found a 6505+ at guitar center it didn't have pics but the description said great condition and made in USA.. Country of origin doesn't really matter that much to me but the condition better be great.... I got it for $650 my luck is they will ship me a 6505mh... we will see.

I'm putting a deposit down on a chubtone explorer next Wednesday. Then just waiting on my Duvell to get built.

I'm going to try to hustle and get a new single cut and I'm leaning towards an FGN. Either that or a V but honestly I don't know if I can swing it this year.

I think what you really meant by that is still gotta find a McInturff, JBL’s, 20w prerola

Yeah, a black carolina would do me right. As well as some 20w celestions. I like the JBLs i have though ;)

I should probably invest in a rack multi-effects too, to streamline my rig some.

The 20watt Heritage ones I've got made today also sound great imo, especially for a non-vintage spearer, but the pre-rola versions are just not fair to compare lol. The 12" JBL's are worth it too, particularly the orange D120F's and E120's

I had a black Carolina that looked great, but it had P90's and Spanish Cedar body instead of mahongay. Still sounded and played great, but gotta imo get a mahogany one. I've kept my sunburst mahogany one with humbuckers. When I sold the black one I didn't get a ton of interest, but as it goes sometimes a lotta guys asked to buy it after it was already sold

Yeah I totally would have been one of those guys inquiring, lol.

I've played a handful of mcinturffs and every single one felt like terry really cared about how great the guitar played and sounded.

Definitely! My favorite of what I've had for LP type guitars that aren't actual vintage ones lol. They've sent my Nik Huber packing if that says anything. I've owned 3 and have tried a few others. They've all been great both in sound and playability. Most luthiers these days are sadly meticulous about everything, but how the damn thing sounds. Not Terry. You can tell by his interviews that he actually also knows toneweoods and cares about their unplugged tone the way these other stupid luthiers ought to. My McInturff and Aged Nitro Charvel's are my best sounding non-vintage guitars I've got and ones I'll actually keep long term
