20th Shiva Owners ?????

I tried this mod on my 20th anniversary model with reverb. When I bought it the reverb had been taken out so when I saw this post I thought I'd give it a whirl. I saw the comment about not being able to do it to my version because of the jack being soldered to a board and it would need modifying but I tried soldering the wire directly to the pin on the board that the jack is soldered to and it worked but the circuit became very noisy. I followed the trace on the board and saw that a resistor was in the circuit following the jack so I fired off an e-mail to bogner to ask if what I was trying to do was possible. They responded today with a couple of questions so I just responded with the answers to their questions. When I find out from them if it is possible or not I'll post the answer.

Thanks for the idea!!! It's never a bad idea to more gain at the tap of a foot!

Thought I'd refresh this post as I have a 20th with reverb I'm considering having modded. I spoke with Bogner and they indicated it'd be fairly easy. They said you could either convert a current jack (i.e., reverb) or install a separate jack and use a separate footswitch. As anyone done this? They suggested you might experience a "pop" while switching modes though. Has anyone experienced this?

I assume you would just wire to the beard as illustrated above to a new jack?

I have done this mod on my reverb model.
The reverb footswitch jack is a TRS jack, but only the tip is used. All you have to do is connect the wire as shown in the above picture from the switch to the ring on the reverb jack. You will have to get another footswitch ( a dual switch w/ a TRS cable) or I just changed the end on my current footswitch (the Reverb plug) To a TRS plug and connected the hot wire to the ring ( You will not be able to switch the reverb on and off). But my plan is to get a four button switch that I can leave on my pedal board, and switch everything.

I do not have reverb in my 20th but my footswitch has the Reverb switch that is being wasted. Can I do this to my Shiva???

I assume the jack would then have dual functionality (i.e., reverb, or mode switching but not both)?

If you use a dual switch foot switch with a trs cable then both work

Just an update for anyone looking to do this on a reverb model. My tech indicated that, because the reverb jack was board mounted, I'd be better off with a separate jack or converting one of the existing. Unfortunately there was little room for a new jack so he suggested converting the power amp in jack if I didn't plan to use it (also on board but will need to be removed), which I don't. He said it is reversible.

I'd still need a separate footswitch. But I use a mini amp gizmo with a Line 6 M13 for FX and midi switching. So I'll be able to map each channel/mode of the 20th to one of 12 FX scenes on the M13.
