anyone else feel kinda disappointed when they see a really cool guitar that they'd like to have, but the neck only has 22 frets?

I just love the feel of a 24 fret neck much more

Not particularly. There was one time ever in my life where I needed that E, specifically as a fretted note, for an effect on a recording. So I just tuned the string up. Problem solved. The rest of the time, it's useless. In the extremely unlikely event that you need it, 99.99% of the time, you can probably just bend to it.

I could understand the feel thing, but it just doesn't even occur to me when I pick up a guitar.

yeah its mostly the feel

I don't like feeling like I'm almost out of neck if I'm soloing around the 19th fret

I always try to get 24 fret necks. I prefer the tone on the neck pickup with it moved back a little. Thankfully, just about every 7 string has 24 frets, so I don't have to worry too much.

It took a while for me to get used to 24 frets, now I hardly notice the difference.

because im used to the tension of 10-52's opn a 22 fret with 24 3/4 inch scale, it would be too stiff on a 24 fret with 25.5 inch scale.

You can have 24 frets on a 24.75'' scale. The Caparison Horus actually has has 27 frets on a 24.75'' scale. Also, if you're concerned, why not change the string gauge to something similar such as 9-46 on a 25.5''?

For me playing past the 14th fret there is a lot more room, margin for error in my case :D It is a total feel thing for sure.

I am still waiting for someone to rip it up on a Horus past the 24 fret, 24.75 scale and 27 frets does not sound very comfortable unless your Shane Lane maybe.............

I don't know about other owners, but it's impossible for me (big hands, long fingers).
Besides, every note above 24 on the high strings sounds the same: like video game beeps :D

   Same boat, I'm not a giant or really tall (6'2) but I can palm a basketball easy, my fingers are not sausage looking either like some of my friends but I can't go past 22 frets comfortably. I can play them fine but I prefer 22 frets. Number of frets is a non-factor when it comes to guitars.

Jury is out but I think I prefer the sound of the neck pickup where it's placed on a 22 fret guitar vs. a 24....but there's not a whole lot in it...once I learn to play above the 15th fret it might make a difference to me ;)

99.9% of the time i'm never up that high anyway.

Besides, what's more metal? Hitting a 24th fret on the high E string or hitting the note on the 22nd fret and bending it up?

Neither of those...hitting a natural harmonic up there and dive bombing or making horsie noises!
