99.9% of the time i'm never up that high anyway.

Besides, what's more metal? Hitting a 24th fret on the high E string or hitting the note on the 22nd fret and bending it up?

Neither of those...hitting a natural harmonic up there and dive bombing or making horsie noises!

lol...true

For me playing past the 14th fret there is a lot more room, margin for error in my case :D It is a total feel thing for sure.

I am still waiting for someone to rip it up on a Horus past the 24 fret, 24.75 scale and 27 frets does not sound very comfortable unless your Shane Lane maybe.............

Ever listen to Mattias Eklundh? He uses those really high frets on his Apple Horn all the time. The Soilwork guys have a few older solos that use those higher frets as well.

eh

I have a 24 fret PRS and a 22 Fret Gibby, I prefer the sound of the PRS overall and the playability is better. I like 24 frets, even if I don't use all of them all the time, just knowing I could

100% of the time for me.

Apart from on my Schecter C7 but that's only because it's a 26.5 scale and I can fit my clumsy fingers into the larger spaces!

24 fret guitars always seem stiff to me. Its almost like playing guage 10's strings after playing a guitar with 9's all the time. I prefer 22 fretters for sure but that's just me

Its actually the one thing that weirds me out about the Vigier. When I go to solo up high on the neck Im thinking, "ugh, where am I?"

never played one... how much do you really gain?
Like a 5 string bass.
Who wants to hear that high E or the low B.

But that's more to do with scale length than number of frets... isn't it? But I can see how they're linked, what with LPs and all :) I'm not sure how I feel about it, honestly. I play some songs where 24 frets is handy, but somehow I just prefer 22... and I like a shorter scale length, except 11-48s on 25.5" already only just give me enough tension :-\ Maybe I need to go up a gauge and down a scale length? lol

22frets for me.. i have used 24's in the past almost exclusively, but in the last 2-3years i have started playing 22fret superstrats and LPs mainly.

Its funny, i used to swear by 24fret guitars all the time.. Floyd rose trems too. Now i play guitars with either fixed bridges or non locking trems and 22 frets :D

I can play equally poorly on 21, 22 or 24 (and I'd guess 27) fret guitars...
