Is anyone running the 4 cable method with an amp and a processor like the Axe-Fx, G System, 11Rack, or a PODHD500? I tried the POD with a few amps and it never worked out, lot's of hum and hiss. I also had issues with an Axe-Fx standard and a Cali mod. I always look up threads where people have issues and the last reply is usually something like, " I'll see how this last ditch effort works and report back". And they neve usually post again. Seems like a lot of people have issues with a variety of setups.

I did the Axe-2 may have addressed this issues but I'm not hoping on that train. So, anyone having any luck? What are you using and what was your solution?
I tried everything to make 4 cable work method with an amp and the AxeFX Ultra and it always sucked balls. Noisy, hum-filled mess...

Steve

I found you have to put one of these right after the send on the AxeFX and it does the trick for me on killing any hum with my Bogner Goldfinger. It won't work anywhere else in the chain.

I had used one of those in the same place as well and at first and thought it worked wonders. But upon closer examination on clean patches I found it was effecting the tone. The cleans where losing there glassiness. The difference was not nearly as audible with the dirty tones

When I read your post I went and did some messing around with it in and out on my cleans my clean tones on my Goldfinger are just fine with it in the chain. Were you using the Axe for cleans or your amp?

My amp. Mesa Electra Dyne. I remember it was pretty noticeable. My Axe FX is hooked up in my studio now away from the amp so I can't test it out (plus I am lazy).

Maybe something about my setup was different that I'm not remembering now.

I know once I put the humx on my amps electrical plug, all noise went away so I no longer needed the hum eliminator. The hum eliminator did a fabulous job of getting rid of noise as well.

There was a G-system thread recently discussing the 4CM. Can't remember who, but someone was running it with a Mark with no issues.

That's me - I think the key to the G System is to use balanced cables. I have been through so much gear over the years, I think now I have found the tones in my head by using the G and Mark. It is such a simple setup - no external buffers, ground lifts, gates etc.

Couldn't be happier!

Cool! If I get to where I notice any tone changes I may try one of those humx units. Thanks for the info!

I use a RP1000 in the 4CM with a RM100 and it works great. I have also tried with a VTM, HT5, and a Tweaker with no issues.
