Ok, I didn't want to have to do it, but you have forced my hand.

With my stunning good looks and a personality as charming and charismatic as that of MLK, I will simply get the entire nation standing behind my agenda! I will have drummers using Mills cabs for stick stands, I will have old people using them for end tables and I will have parents buying them for children to built forts out of! I will organize a 'million mills march' on your town and the wall of sound will be so powerful it will turn the oppositions bones to dust!

Remember, you brought this upon yourself!! :uzi:

yeah, keep laughing... Did you not read that my dad owns a guitar store? Ever think that maybe him and I teach lessons? Did I say they were in the market for a new cab? no. I said I was. That's no joke. I was actually being modest as the student count is over 200. I'm not being sensitive. I don't give a rat's ass what he does. I'm just trying to make a point about being a professional in your industry and how things like swooping in on your competition's customers and making tongue in cheek jokes effects your business... I'm personally not going to recommend Mills cabs to anyone. How many sales will this lose him in reality? At least 2 cabs because... yes I am in the market for cabs.

Let's put things in perspective. You were probably gonna buy one at cost throught your dad's store anyway. Also, it's not like your gonna recommend to one of your students that they buy a cab from Mills (or any other brand for that matter) rather than one sold by your dad's store in any case. If you would, then you're not much of an asset to your dad's business.

Just like I bought my diezel through his store right?... No. He deals mainly in used/vintage gear. I actually buy less than half my stuff through him because his stock is based upon what customers bring through the door. As far as new stock he just has a couple of cheap combos. Maybe it's unheard of for you guys, but he tries to steer people in the right direction whether he stocks something or not. Why? because he believes in treating the customer right and they always come back.

It's nice to see all the assumptions drawn up here. I was simply making a point about presenting your business in a professional manner... I'd like to see any of you attempting to ream me run a business based upon those principles and survive. Sure it can be done, but good luck.

So a couple hundred 9-14 year old music store guitar students you are teaching Nirvana songs to will not be purchasing cabs from Mills this year.
Whatever will Dave do since I am sure that's the majority of his market demographic?

He cracked a joke about the color of the nut on the input jack for fucks sake, get a sense of humor or fuck off. ;)

haha you so funny? Read above, he deals with alot of people that are willing to spend money on musical equipment. It's not about my circle of influence its much bigger than that. There are alot more people that will see the post, and it will grow exponentially if this is the general attitude of a business representative. My point was clearly a point of respect. It actually wasn't the joke that put a sour taste in my mouth. I'm entitled to my opinion as you are yours. This stuff really doesn't effect my life. I could care less. I had a point that I think is quite valid. How about you guys take it for what it's worth and move on instead of trying to break down every detail of my posts trying to dis-credit me?

im handing out valium & beers this afternoon to whoever wants some. everyone relax.

I guess I just get tired of the hardcore fanboy attitude that seems to suggest that a particular company is above reproach and cannot ever be jabbed at no matter how insignificant the joke, or how much truth there is behind it for that matter.

Whatever floats your boat though.

Hey man, I totally agree with you there. I believe every company needs some examining. Fanboys annoy me too. Every piece of my signal chain for live and recording is of a different make. (Except a couple of duplicates in the pedal and cabling dept.) I wasn't trying to defend diezel or say that they're of god-like status. Competition is a wonderful thing. It keeps companies honest, and makes them work hard for their place in the market. It's great for consumers too. I understand how I may have been coming off that way, but it really wasn't my point. Mine was one business going on another business's turf to dis-credit their products and promote their own doesn't look at all professional to me. All being said, I probably won't be picking up a diezel cab either. Thanks for that post. :)

I get your point, and it's all good.

I normally don't reply to posts like this but I couldn't help myself: The point first commented on by Mills was in regard on how to visually ID a newer cab vs the old style. He then made a post sacastically pointing out what great effect this must have on the sound. Why? Why comment at all? No one was dissing his cabs or saying anything of the sort. This is self inflicted by Mills stupid comment...period...but then to continue to throw barbs & challenge a question that wasn't asked is just beyond dumb. The retoric that he followed with (and I point out I have no grudge to bear, Mills cabs look like they are very nice) and all the follow up comments are what I find distasteful and class-less, picking a fight where there was none.

If you think your product is better, just say you would suggest people take a look at them before buying anything else because of XY & Z. Given the comments and attitude I would pass on a Mills Cab just based the reaction & attitude alone. Does he have so much business in this crappy economy to not care? Maybe. But come to a Diezel forum & dis & challenge the product without cause, well he got what he deserved. Sadly even if his points are valid he's lost me and I'm sure others too just by the arrogant attitude which is much too prevalent these days. People are really sick of this type of stuff from manufacturers.

With all of that said, Diezels have their issues and faults too (ask me how I know) and ANY sort of negative comment is blasted here even if valid which isn't really right either. I have had a very disproportional amount of issues with my Diezel far exceeding that of any of my other 10 amps...but when it's OK nothing I have owned sounds better. No one manufacturer has a lock on the best of everything, so lighten up folks! Just my 2 cents...

Hell YEAH Braddah... That oughta get everyone noddin' off ever so nicely.

I mean, this thread went as sideways as a leather sole on fresh dogshit. ODDLY ENOUGH...AND IF I MIGHT ADD... I suffer from 'matchy matchy' syndrome just like anyone else who squips on their new shiny gear and goes to bed dreaming about guitar notes (FZ, RIP). But at the end of the day, it's GEAR - and I've come to realize it's the player - not the gear - that makes it magic. So once in a while I look at all my nice stuff and go WOW this is AWESOME!!! But at the end of the day, it cost a pretty penny for sure - and I sometimes wonder, okay, why does it cost THIS much?!?!?! So when I read the Mills post about the new silver colored jack versus the red, I laughed my ass off. Because it's true - hell, on mylespaul.com there was a cat there wondering if the PLASTIC on this guitar influenced tone at all. I'll tell you what influences tone - clock 10,000 hours playing - and you won't give a rats ass about gear, cuz no matter what 6 slinger you're playing, you'll be a virtuoso. So ya, between silver versus red versus black plastic versus cables versus tubes versus GRILL CLOTH COLOR, we drive ourselves nuts because the plethora of variables is ENDLESS (if we want them to be) and seriously, if it's not taking a few 6 packs and a handful of benzo's from Pauly, I best be getting OFF this computer, ONTO my new gear, and checking off the 5000+ hours I've got left in my 10,000 hour quota.

Peace,
V.
