4x12 wiring options.

Kind of a necro bump, but I have questions. I have a 4x12 that's 4 ohms. All 4 speakers are 4 ohms.
Can I rewire it so it's 16 ohms?
I've googled, but not sure I've found good info.
Easy. Wire all four in series (bottom right in the pic). Are you absolutely sure they’re 4 ohm speakers? That’s fairly rare.

I would trust you more than me, but i feel like i did this before and it remained 16 ohm with 16 ohm speakers.

However, wiring this way and using multimeter to ohm out would easily prove. I always check when finished wiring.

Yep, I opened it up and looked at them. It's an Avatar cab I bought off GC's used site.
I figured it would be a 16ohm cab, but it was marked 4ohm, which is why I opened it up.

I was actually thinking about just replacing the speakers and selling the Celestions that are in it,
but then I also thought if I could just rewire it to 16ohm, it might be easier than speaker chasing.

What speakers are they?

Ok, I'll weigh in here. Series/parallel has a little more bass, more vintage feel, perhaps a little bluesier/relaxed. Parallel/series is a little more modern sounding, mids are subtly enhanced, better for more immediate feel. Keep in mind, these are SUBTLE changes, and you may not notice a difference.

About a dozen years ago I went through this with George Lynch, Dave Friedman and Roy Blankenship. Depending on your music/playing style, you would choose the one that makes more sense to your tone.

Only the individual player can make that determination, of course. YMMV, My .02, yada yada.
Would you happen to have a diagram picture of both. I have seen several posts throughout the internet that mixes them up between each other. Two diagrams of the same signal path will have different labels one saying S/P another on a different website saying P/S.

I'm way late to this party.

In this image the bottom right isn't series. It's parallel/series.

Series should look like this (edited with MS Paint)...

The names of the wiring have never been standardized. You will see them labeled different all over the place.

So, I apparently forgot to ask, but do you guys have a recommendation for speaker wire and those connectors?
