So I've got the lone 500K potentiometer. I'm preparing to wire my guitar up. However...

I was looking through my pickups, and I remember I have the BW in there. Having second thoughts now.

I remember the BW being tighter, more aggressive, and with lots of attack. I remember the 500T being looser, dirtier, but with lots of 90's-sounding grind. Slightly lower output too.

So.... not sure what to do now.

BTW, I'm also debating about an SH-6N, a DiMarzio Super 2, or Evo Neck in the neck.

Opionions?

I'm 55% 500T, 45% BW. But I'm not sure.

If I go 500T, I'm 95% SH-6N, since visually, it maches. But if I go BW, I could do any in the neck, since it's not going to match anyways.

I just sold my SG that had a 500T in it. Man i'm gonna miss that sound...

those 500T are certainly a thing unto themselves .. clearly your issue is not which pickup to use it is you need more guitars:devilish:

Black Winter set had so much magnet pull it made my strings buzz. Drove me insane as the pickups were the last thing one would think was causing it. Out they went and no more buzz. Happened to someone else I knew also.

Even if you lowered the pickup down?

I like a good Larry Duncan combo now and then, so I would go BW/super2.

The 500T has the exact same magnetic structure. An oversized Ceramic magnet with two booster flankers.

It's just the BW-N has the exact same structure, which I bet would be more of an issue.

The BW-N did sound killer, tho.

I think actually kinda like the Evo Neck slightly better. It's been a while since I've had either installed, tho.

It's a toss up, really. The Super 2 is hotter, which I like. But the Evo, even if it's darker/smoother, it's also clearer. The problem I have with the Evo is both the BW and 500T are stupid hot, so I have to really raise the Evo for it match, and at that point, it doesn't sound its best.

I guess I’m the only one that voted for the BW.
I like the 500T but I found it a bit one dimensional.
The BW is a lot more versatile than one would imagine, more like a super Distortion with a bit less low mids, it cleans up fairly well.
Both are great though.
SH-6N is one of my fav neck tones.
I think it’s better than the super 2 which is almost too much.

Don't really need versatility. I just want to play some nasty Gothenburg-y 90's-2000's stuff ala At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, and whatnot.

I'm sure both pickups can handle it. Just not sure which to try first.

I barely ever use the neck pickup, but if I do, it's either for slow melodic leads or clean passages.
