90% of the amps out there do the same thing...just different flavors. It's just manufacturers trying to stay a float or boost sales through marketing.
Yeah I get it from the manufacturer's position, definitely got a buzz.. but as a consumer just seems like they are giving us more of the same.

I don't understand why you bothered to open this thread..
I was interested in the amp until hearing it, dipshit.

It wasn't a brag, and it wasn't framed as a "new feature." It was an explanation about why the Iconic sounds comparatively brighter than the other 5150's at "the same" knob settings.

Basically, when James Brown explained that, he was actually saying "turn the Iconic's Presence down more if you want a more apples-to-apples comparison."
Ok I see

But that's not what you said. You said, and here's a quote to remind you since you're obviously so stupid you already forgot what you said "I don't understand why this amp exists. It's not even that much cheaper than a 6505. The market is already saturated with 5150 variations that all more or less do the same thing."

I don't understand opening a thread about a amp shouldn't exist when the "market is already saturated with 5150 variations that all more or less do the same thing."

I don't I understand your comment. The Iconic presence pot is not "better." It's different.

This is useful to know for someone trying to dial in the Ionic to sound like the 5151. If you run the 5151 presence around 7 (I think everyone does?), you probably do not want to do that with the Iconic because it'll be super bright because of the pot difference. You'd want the Iconic presence around 2 or 3 just because of the different pot.

The Axe FX 5150 model is the same way. The virtual presence on 2 or 3 is around what the actual amp sounds like with the presence on 7.
Adjust to taste. I don't know how you can say you think everyone adjusts their knows to such and such.

You don't think your posts through, do you? I won't be seeing you anymore. :emofag:

Are you just trying to pick a fight over the Internet? You seriously don't think people will plug into this and set the controls the same way they set up a 5151 and then complain it's too bright? In fact you don't think that's already happened?

No. I don't care what other people will do. Adjust to taste. They're not buying the same exact amp so they shouldn't expect the same exact sounds for the same exact settings...that's on them.

You didnt understand my initial comment...someone else did and clarified it for me already.

Rock on.

So, Did Kyle actually do a playing demo?

There’s a short one and it sounds awesome. This amp seems like it’ll be a bargain once the first adopters start flipping it. I’ve liked almost every clip and I’m not a high gain or metal guy.

Yet you "don't understand why this amp exists". Let me guess, it shouldn't "exist" unless you say it should exist right:loco:

"I won't be seeing you anymore." Sounds good to me..Bye Bye:2thumbsup::emofag::2thumbsup:

To my ears and setting aside all video clip bullshit that makes the clips we are listening to no good......this amp just sounds awesome! I listened to all rockinchippy 's clips and it IMO it destroys all his highend amps. Cost of this amp is where Ed wanted it, where amp prices should be. Not 3500-4500. The flavor of the day amp does not sound or do something else for $2500 more. Ed was adamant about this amp being affordable for the average player. He was at Peavey and he had again felt this at EVH. His stuff had gotten to expensive...hence we got Iconic

I'll be honest.....i'm GASsing for one of these now. And I already own a 5150 2x12 combo
