5150-III 50 watt 6L6 Stealth biased, there's the tone!!! So easy and such a difference!!!!

Getting ready to bias one for my friend tonight. Its the black 5150 iiiS. What exactly did you bias yours to that you were OK with?? Was it ma or mv???. I dont wanna yank it out like the old ones lol. The manual doesnt say if its both 6l6 or one,, based on the normal plate voltage of these guys you would think 30-35 a tube.

imo these amps sit best around 55%-60% bias point. If you're using a DMM and not a bias probe, and follow the instructions, 1mv corresponds to 1ma

I have mine sitting at around 32-34ma. At 40ma+ i started getting some mild redplating. plate voltage was around 480V

FWIW, I liked mine a lot better with Tung Sol 5881s in it. It seemed to resolve some of the shrill brightness.

Shoulda probably don’t this years back before I sold my Stealth 100. I actually preferred my combo over it so sold it. Didn’t care for the blue channel on the stealth, which I live on via the combo.
