I changed the resistor on the voltage divider from 10k to 47 k . Now the clean channel isn't as clean but it's clean enough for me and no volume drop

Very cool - how much of a pain in the ass was it to do? I often think of doing this on mine from time to time, but kinda don't want to ruin the warranty. I've done solder work on guitars (pickups, pots, etc) but never on an amp.

I'm of the mindset now that I'd rather have increased gain on the clean/green channel and use my volume knob for clean cleans. This is what I'm doing now on channel 2/blue, but it'd be nice to have a less compressed/bluesy gain on clean/green channel.

Its easy ,I didn't even pull the PC board . just heat the legs of the resister and ease it out . It was a little hard to get out because I think they bent the legs over on the other side of the board . Not a problem though just be easy with it . Then tin the legs of the new one and install it in its place .
Every one says they used a 42 k I didn't have one so I used a 47k (difference is negligable ). I also tried a 23k just for grins and I liked the way the 47 k sounded better .

I also biased the amp up to 68% while I had it open . I usually do this first thing when I receive an amp but the EVH sounded good enough that I just never bothered . Now that I did bias it, it sounds even better to my ears .

BTW I used my amp last night for the 2nd time since changing the resistor and I like the clean channel better now. Its not as clean but for what I want its more useable .i can easily get that bluesy tone out of it now . To me a really clean channel isn't much use ,just hear and there and I can get by on that by using the volume on the guitar .

I think the resistor you change is R79 .I'm at work now and I can't get the schematic to enlarge to a point that I can see the resister # . I will check when i get home and let you know for sure .

Awesome! Thank you so much!!!  :D

How much improvement in sound you get with bias mod? I would like to try the ep booster or a koko boost

Not sure if your asking me this or not .If so I haven't done a bias mod . I just adjusted the bias and like any amp it just makes the amp more responsive and tighter sounding .

How many dB do you increase channel one if using eq in the loop, looking for a ballpark number since I can't play at stage volume until next gig?

I set it up at 3 dB higher basically across the board, good?

This!!!!! The koko is an excellent solution. No grit and can take signal to whatever level you want it thus making the channel set to your liking without the breakup.
