5751 pre amp tube swap in SLO 30 vid

Seems like most people that try 5751 in their amps like it at first, but always switch back. Someone said hollow bass and I agree, some frequencies aren’t all similar to the classic 12ax7. I put an Amperex in V1. Tried a Ruby AC5 HG+ in V2 but I moved it to V3 and stuck the JJ back in V2 to tame some Overdrive brightness. That Amperex REALLY tightened up the Ch1 Crunch low end, more classic sounding.

I’ve only had my SLO-30 for couple of days but man it sounds so good and super versatile. More versatile than the BE100 with all its switches!

I tried the 5751 in my SLO years ago. It was fine. It made for a really sweet clean tone from the amp, and there's plenty of gain on the OD so no problems. If I was doing the right type of music, I could have seen sticking to that.

As is, I like the crunch up high and roll-off for (semi) clean, so I just prefer the 12AX7 in there for that kind of sound. I don't necessarily think one is superior to the other, but definitely one is superior for what I want out of the amp.
