i've installed the SED 6L6GCs winged "C" in my VH4S and i definitely leave them in the amp. the sound is really amazing - exactly what i was looking for. far more smooth than the JJs.

but unfortunately i could not bias them :aww:
the digital multimeter did not display any current. all i got, was 0.00. i did all exactly in the way as the instructions say. i even tried two differen DMM and it didn't work. what am i doing wrong?

here's the DMM ad the setting i've used:

Did you remover any fuses? Did put the amp in full running mode?
And check the DMM fuses. I once blew the fuse of both DMMs I owned and was about to believe that something was wrong with my previously owned Einstein

yes, i did put the amp i full running mode and i didn't remove any fuses.
edit: i've just checked the DMM fuse. it seems to be broken. i hope, that it will not blow again...

Hack, if you don't mind me asking. Did you build like a little baffle or mini room around your cab and head for recording? (notes your avatar) Cuz I always have a tough time making clips as my attic is all hard wood floors and oval shaped and the only time I made decent clips of, say my rack...it was in the studio we jam in and it is a big room and has carpet and everything. Thanks man

the pic on my avatar was taken at the recording studio. the amp was installed in a mini room to avoid any noise and unwanted hall effects.

Gotcha. Yeah I am always trying to make clips in my attic/toy room and the room is just horrible for micing my cabs. :( Thanks man :)

i've put new sed 6l6 winged c tubes in my vh4s a few month ago. i'm really happy with them and they fit my kind of sound. but the feedback they produce is a bit annoying and it seems like it gets worse each time i play. the feedback even sets in (sometimes) when i play a chord on channel 4 before the chord rings out. should i rebias it once again? i already did the biasing after changing the tubes.

thanx for any help!

Are you sure it's not time for new preamp tubes also? ;)

I've never had power amp tubes cause feedback or go microphonic on me. To fix feedback it was always- 1. Move away from the cab, 2. Turn down the gain, 3. Turn down the volume, or 4. Microphonic tube in v1

Before you buy a new one, try swapping one of the other preamp tubes in their and see if it fixes your problem. If you swap and it fixes it, then you have a microphonic tube. If that's the case, I'd go with a Tung Sol in v1 at least. I use them in all my amps and love them. As for the other preamp tubes, lots of people like the 9th gen tubes, but I just use tung sol everywhere.
