Got most of the issues worked out. Only issue I've having at the moment is w/ the Lexicon MPXG2 that's in a parallel effects loop. If there's a effect on, there's no problem at all. If I turn the effects off and still have the insert on, there's a phasing issue. If I turn off the insert, life is grand.

Hey Eric, the insert on the G2 can be turned on and off via MIDI CC for a short-term solution, but then I don't know if the GCX can send more than one msg to a single device since you will likely want to also be sending PC msgs too.

Yeah...i've already thought about that, and I know that works. But the problem with that is this. I use the G2 a lot for "instant access" to each effect. There's no way to have a insert tell if this is the first effect on which would subsequently turn on the insert...or inversely, if this is the last effect being turned off...then turn off the insert.

I just did a quick test w/ the MX300, and things worked fine with it. So i'm going to grab a MPX1 to use in the parallel effects loop instead.

Nice job Klark! Where did you get/buy the shock mount and how much?

Bought it from Jake @ Indy Case (indycase.com). Jake's a great guy to work with. He's built nearly every one of the racks that I have used over the past 4-5 years.

Dude this is a sweet rig man. We are ready to go on tour now !!!!!!

MORE PICS :D

Eric how do you like those Line6 mod and filter pro's?

Im thinking of getting the Filter Pro. How is the Mutron III effect and does it have a Boss T wah type effect besides the Mutron ? Any other effect you think might stand out in it?

3) I also gave Eric two more IA switches on his GCP by installing two switches, one in each upper corner. Each is internally wired to the EXP jacks. Now he doesn't have to eat up two of the normal GCP IA switches for Mute & Tap.

Hi Klark

Would you be willing to share how exactly you got this modification to work? Would it be possible to add the switches in an external box and simply plug into the EXP jacks?

BTW I am in Europe so I can't exactly send you the GCP to do the mod for me!

Best Regards

Paul

He basically wired switches directly to the Pedal 1 and Pedal 2 inputs of the GCP making them unusable for pedals anymore. I am using one for a tap and one to turn on / off the bypass of the MPXG2. So the tap had to be a momentary footswitch, and the bypass had to be a latching footswitch.

We configured the Pedal 1 / 2 inputs to the corresponding CC messages in the GCP to control the items in the rack.

HTH.

Any competent tech should be able to do it for you. There's plenty of room inside a GCP, and in terms of the electronics, it's a very simple mod. In all honesty, the drilling of the hole is the most difficult part. You absolutely must build a 'tape shroud' to keep metal shavings from getting in the chip sockets. And you also must absolutely cut the vinyl label on top BEFORE drilling the hole. If you don't cut the vinyl label first, the drill bit will catch the vinyl and rip up the label badly.

Yes, of course, that's really what they're for, but most people just assume they're strictly for expression type pedals. They're just as easily adaptable for use with switches, whether it's tap-tempo, mute, or anything else that you can control with CC commands.

Here's a bunch of pics - You can save them if you like and show them to your tech..

Oh, and also, don't just automatically assume the SPDT that you see in my pics will work for you!! EVERY processor is different!! TC Electronics is tip for the common center lug, then you bounce back & forth between ring & ground. Lexicon is tip & ring tied together, both which bounce to & from ground. Same goes for Momentary, Latching, Normally Open, and Normally Closed. You're just going to have to experiment and find out exactly what the processor you're trying to control requires.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the info. I had assumed it would be more complicated than that - wiring resistors to simulate the closed and open positions of the Exp pedal. Hopefully I'll get a tap tempo button out of it !
