Alternative to TS types for a boost: OCD?

Techdeath talked me into buying an OCD when the Fulltone news broke out the other week. Been a LONG time since I’ve played one and I gotta say, it rips as a boost. I’m surprised and it’s nice to have something different from the 30 TS types I have in a drawer.

I get bored of most stuff quickly so time will tell, but aside from a TS type, my favorites are the Koko boost and OCD.

I should do a clip comparing them all. Maybe if I get some time this week. Thinking Buxom Boost, Koko, 805, OCD, Green Rhino, SD1. Have a Tim but I don’t like that as much as a boost - feel like it works better as a mild OD to give you a couple notches more gain with the same general tone you already have. Missing anything obvious that should be in there?

For the Marshall, try an MXR Custom Badass Modified OD, or a Zakk Wylde. Cheap, and quite effective. Excellent with Marshalls. I've been really talking up the Mesa Flux Drive here for awhile. It kicks ass. I love it!

You've got me interested in the Jam Ray . Are you using it set as a clean boost ?
I had a Jam Ray and it sucked, (IMO). Way TOO clean, no grit. Just added flub.

If you want clean, yet aggressive grit if wanted, Flux Drive. I've raved about mine, it's a kickass pedal.

I had the Flux Drive years ago . Wouldn’t be the the first time I revisited a OD pedal for the 2nd sometimes 3rd , 4th time

Not mine. Def more grit than an SD1.

Anyone has tried the Seymour Forza or the Wessex Bogner to boost an overdriven sound?

KHDK No.1 and No.2.

I don't see KHDK mentioned often. It is often my preference.

I think a good old EQ is first gap I need to fill.

Maybe try a Nobels after that. Haven’t heard any clips of it as a boost for high gain that I like though so not sure about that one
The Wampler take on that circuit has a bass knob, which is essential imo, for using it as a boost for high gain tone. There's an od shootout on my youtube where I used the Wampler Belle to push a 2204. Sounded good. The trick for me with Klon circuit is getting the gain knob at 9 or above, where it cuts out a decent amount of bass and adds some mids. Still, it's more tubby sounding than an SD-1, TS or any pedal where you can pull the bass right out.

I never liked TS with JCM, my boosts of choice have always been an OCD or BB Preamp.
