Great album!
You're right He did not ,only Scott on all rhythms.I don't think Danny played any rhythms on that album.
tc boost into 800.
Howling Furies !!Vocal minority but my favorite Anthrax album is Fistful of Metal. Awesome Speed/Power Metal record. Sadly, it gets overlooked by a lot of the "True Metal" guys that like similar sounding bands like Savage Grace and Agent Steel.

Unbelievable it’s a JCM800 but that’s what I’ve been told lol
Eddie Kramer did that record. He always used a lot of room mics and tricks at the board.
Ian is one of the most famous metal users of an 800 in the 80’s. It was well documented that whole time. In my experience they have no issue being that tight. 100’s of metal albums from then would say the same. The gain yeah, but the tightness is very un-Marshally even with outboard EQ.
It is confirmed 800's? I'm wondering if there's some MarkII or III in there, sure as hell sounds like it.
As confirmed by Scott Ian himself (see post #28), the TC Distortion/Booster pedal had something to do with that as well, both in goosing up the input and for added tightness.Ian is one of the most famous metal users of an 800 in the 80’s. Yeah makes sense. Presumably some post EQ by the recording or mixing engineer too - great tones. As confirmed by Scott Ian himself (see post #28), the TC Distortion/Booster pedal had something to do with that as well, both in goosing up the input and for added tightness.
If you turn the bass all the way down on those types of pedals, it gets super tight and clanky. As confirmed by Scott Ian himself (see post #28), the TC Distortion/Booster pedal had something to do with that as well, both in goosing up the input and for added tightness.
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, that's how one of Fortin's 1-knob boost pedals is based; the TC Preamp, but with bass pre-set to 0.If you turn the bass all the way down on those types of pedals, it gets super tight and clanky.
Yeah, the Fortin Grind is basically the TC Integrated Pre with the bass at -10, and the treble about 1. This TC Booster is very similar to the Integrated Pre, so very similar idea.Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, that's how one of Fortin's 1-knob boost pedals is based; the TC Preamp, but with bass pre-set to 0.
That's too clanky for my taste though.
His main Marshall was also modded at some point, but I'm not sure when. Steven Fryette put it back to stock during the recording for Worship Music. As confirmed by Scott Ian himself (see post #28), the TC Distortion/Booster pedal had something to do with that as well, both in goosing up the input and for added tightness.
