Is it? I thought Divinity use a Herbert and a VH4?

Sacha, hope I spelled his name right, owned both of those heads. I think that might be what you're remembering. Could be wrong, I'm fairly positive though. Other guitar player was playing through an uber.

I personally think a Herbert and VH4 together is better then a Herbert and Uberschall together. You need to fill in the holes and both of those voicings (Herbert/Uberschall) are somewhat similar.

Hey Guys! I am new here but have owned my Herbert for many of years & looked on this forum many of times to see what was up. I think great compliments to the Herbie are a VH4, Splawn Quickrod (i agree with ya there AWood!) & even a H&K Triamp. Just my two cents!

Plus +1 for the Quickrod. I played one with my Einstein, fucking massive.

my next combination will be trying the od 100 and the herbie together

Hi there,

problem is, that there is no chance to play a splawn here in germany......
the only thing would be buying blind

but i have seen, that some od100 are beeing sold here....i always thought these sound more or less than "marshalls" aren't they? something like a hotrodded jcm800

Oh man! Everybody is talking about Splawn´s.

(G.A.S.)

But after Frankfurt I´m gonna buy a Diezel cab. And i hope it can solve my sound issues and not to think about Splawn or s.th..

That would be one messy Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich. Plus it would be so massive it wouldnt even fit on the plate!!!

The Splawns are really nice. I use my QR with my Herbie..and its totally sweet. Splawn very Marshall-esque...but wayyyy better!!!

I liked everything that was different than the Diezel in my Splawn Quick Rod until I used the Solo boost and effects loop.
The Solo boost almost caused permanent deafness on .1 and I discovered why the loop sounded lofi to me. It's a SS Marshall
type. It's a wide open amp and sounds superb, ala EVH'ish, but it does have some minor issues. By itself, it's one of the better
Marshall type amps. In the end, the amp was not needed when I A/B'd with the VH4. I could get just as good a tone and as much
versatility from CH. 1, Ch. 2 ( The Mutts Nutts ) and Channel 3. I just boost 1 and 2 with a BB preamp and they go from clean to blues and
Angus to Zakk Wylde. I'm running SED 6550's and I refrain from wanting to play Slash licks on Channel 2 un-boosted with the gain at 1:00.
It's not a bad idea to add the VH4 to the Herbert. I would not mind seven midi controllable channels... :) And the capability to mute either amp with a single patch.

I was going to say Uberschall, but that comment makes alot of sense. The Herbert and Uber both have that strong low-mid thing going on so in theory the VH4 should work very well.

i really dont understand why herbert must be compliment with anything...its a really total amp.
i mixed a lot in studio with mesas, ubers, ecstasy, jcm 800...and in the mix you only use the herbert..., but this is my opnion...

i prefer mix the amp with a good overdrive-boost pedal...

i owns several amps, but with the herbert you can dial almost any sound...channel 2 is everything...and 3...

bogner is changed his mind...they go for a more classic sound sound right now, uberschall was a good trial to metal, but for me is a very nasal and dark amp..., but if you need more classic rock, the shiva or ecstasy classic will work fine.

i think that the only amp that can fight with a herbert is the new evh.

peter, i really like the new tubes handles...more marshallish :D

I vote for the Uber. It's a different flavor of the same tone, and I think this is what would make it work so well. In theory, you're not really taking up more sonic space, but they're different enough to distinguish the two and get a really massive sound.

I see it as similar to people that use 5150s and Rectifiers together; similar tone but different flavors. That's why so many recordings have been made with those two together!

I like my VHT CLX works great with the Herbert..

I had a revision blue Uber and it sounded Great with the Herbert. Remember that the trick to the Uber is in the presence control... Sorry to quote my self (long week)... :)

+20.000

Every now & then I think about selling all the other amps I have, but I know I'm gonna regret it, so I just hold on to them, but Herbert delivers by itself big time. Sometimes I want another one.

you are correct man,

i have several heads, uberschalls, ecstasy, mesa triple and dual, but when you play through a diezel, everything is fine. and i wonder why dont sell them...

but, in a far far land, if i needed blend a herbert i will choose a mark 4...

this is the example:

one of the best live tone i´ve ver heard.
