What a great tone! Pretty under-appreciated band too; not the best but they had some cool tunes and a secret weapon in Timmons that's for sure!

Anyone know what he was using around this time?

Great guitarist! I think he is using the lonestar now...

I think Mesa Lonestar, Butler Tube Driver, and multiple delays.

Yeah, no vid. I know he was using Laney TT100 before the Mesa switch happened. His original AT Ibanez was loaded with Duncan JB and Dimarzio bridge Cruisers.

Wasn't his solo album recorded with a Marshall?

Which one? He has several. When it comes to recording, anything and everything will be used. On Ear X-tacy 2 he used Laney, Marshall, and even a 5150. On the original recording of Cry For You, the lead parts used are a scratch recording done with a Zoom 505 pedal. They couldn't recreate the feel of the scratch when they were doing the "real" take, so they just used the scratch version instead.

According to Andy Timmons he recorded resolution with his marshalls and something else... maybe a clean fender or boogie, cant remember. But the dirt was all marshall. There is a youtube of him playing a few months ago in texas and he was using a fawn colored 2203 and the lonestar.

Resolution

I believe Resolution was mostly Marshall and some Boogies here and there. There was a video that talked about that around the time of the release of Resolution.

edit: Found the video on his site. He talks about using the Marshall, but there is also the Laney TT100 head. Not sure if it was used for recording, though.

Oh my God, I love this guy.

For me it's the best tone I've ever heard out of him. The real Andy Timmons shines through that Stratocaster.

Holy crap dude, that was awesome!

Yes!

The dynamic range of this guy is beyond most shredders. He has elevated himself.
His discussion on Jeff Beck makes a lot of sense. He paid attention.

This is serious guitar playing.

IIR, the dirt on Resolution is the Tube Driver. Marshalls were set clean, ran into Boogie 2x12s.

Yeah, he likes the tubdriver and tape echo! regardless, the overdrive tones were from the marshalls... he used the other amps for the clean sounds.
