Andy is one of my favorite guitarists to listen to. Killer phrasing and has astonishing touch on the instrument.

Yeah, he likes the tubdriver and tape echo! regardless, the overdrive tones were from the marshalls... he used the other amps for the clean sounds.

Marshall set clean ;)

set clean to be overdriven... not his clean tone! lol

He explains everything here for the Sgt Pepper tones.

yeah, that's a cool vid... my only point to random was the "platform" itself lends to the sound and was chosen for a reason. marshall "clean" and clean is not the same.
those stiletto's sound great!
Anybody play through his dimarzio bridge humbucker? curious as to how it compares to his old JB??

Yup. His dirty tones for 'Resolution' was the Butler Tube Driver into clean Marshall Plexi's.

What a killer tone! Love the plexi/tube driver tone he gets!

i remember walking the NAMM floor in 87-88 and seeing him demo the hockey puck guitar for kramer
i was into satch at the time and thought andy dusted him. super happy dude and shredded with seasoned phrasing. not just eggbeater crap with zero vibrato. people back then forgot to breathe when they soloed. does anyone end a blazing line with killer vibrato ala scheker, schon, meniketti, and moore anymore?

later that evening my singer friend hung out with him and jammed in his hotel room and said andy was one of the greatest unknown players he had ever heard.

i saw him at NAMM this year entering a tent and i made hand gestures like "are you playing" and he pointed to his headset at made the "just talking" hand gesture roling his eyes and we laughed as i shaka'd him.

just a cool guy.

Oh my God, I love this guy.

For me it's the best tone I've ever heard out of him. The real Andy Timmons shines through that Stratocaster.

Holy. Shit. Dude. Sorry for the dead thread bump but THAT was fahking AMAZING. Thanks for that...time to go find more !!!

Pure emotion. Letting it fly. :worship:

By the way, Andy knows how to set a delay pedal.

I saw Andy at a Mesa clinic. He had just a Lonestar and a Stiletto. He a small homemade board that was nothing more than a piece of plywood painted black with a power strip on it and 2 Memory Mans,an Exotic BB,a Tube Driver and maybe a tube screamer. It was the messiest thing you've ever seen. His tone was phenomenal. He played great and hung around after and talked to anyone who came up to him. I chatted with him a little, he took a pic, signed some stuff and was happy to do it.Class act all the way.

When I saw him last year, it was his lonestar with his pedal that replaced the angry charlie. There is a great Youtube video of the guy that builds his pedal boards, going over in detail his pedal board and signal chain. Andy is a monster (and super nice) and he is also really good about posting videos that show his gear (a guy has to get paid).

Back in my real playing days I got to jam with Andy a few times. So very good. Incredible ear for melody and harmony and willing to visit about it all. He was very encouraging as well, when back in those days it was über-competitive. Just a true old-school musician.

Are you talking about the one at Rudy's in NYC? I was there too. Mesa used my pics on their website for a long time. Can't find them now. But yeah, Andy was the nicest guy you could ever meet.

I know this is an old post, but I'm just now checking out the link... and wow .... I could listen to that all day long. Just fantastic stuff.

Yep, Andy is amazing! He is an incredibly versatile player as well. Check out his work on the Simon Phillips Protocol stuff. He's more jazz/rock on that material but I dig it as well..awesome!
