Another AxeFx user....Rusty Cooley

Had to turn it off as soon as he started demoing the lead tone on the first vid

It's interesting how many people are converting, especially high gain players. I wonder if we'll see a day where everyone is using pretty much the same rig with the only variable being the cab? And surely even then that would only be for on-stage monitoring?

As I said, it does seem like a lot of high gain players are switching to the Axe although I'm yet to see many lower/medium type gain players other than that religious Brewster guy make the transition yet? At least not full time?

I like samhill's youtube high gain videos on the axe fx a lot better than Rusty Cooley's.
Anyway, and just a matter of opinion but I don't like Rusty Cooley's guitar tone at all.

I've yet to see high gain clips apart from that one that sound good.

The riff on the 1st page starting at 2:14 is killer, loved it.

Sounds great. I forgot about this vid. Does Pete Thorn use it for amp models full time? Dates where he can't take his main rig?

When he can bring his main rig he has one in his rack for FX, plus one setup for a backup in case of amp/rig failure (uses the amp models on the backup setup). One he uses for gigs when he can't bring his main rig that utilizes the amp models.

"It's got a good lead tone".....

Really? How can you tell with that flurry of notes?

The gain could come down but so what? HCAF is already in full beat down mode on these vids. I get that not alot of people aren't into what he plays but it isn't that bad for what it is. Kind of cool for him to do an impromptu video actually.......

He is playing some very cool riffs but everyone is still yelling about the shred part, he can't win over there   Now if he was a drummer nailing the double bass that fast he would be a god over there

and I am sure rusty can play simple blues progressions, I was laughing my ass off when guys said he could not

I heard if you spray Deep Woods Off at Cooley he can't play and has to leave the immediate area.

at least these videos show the harmonizer can track well at blinding speeds!

Simple blues progressions I'm sure he could play with relative ease - if not much authenticity - but that's not really what was said, is it?

Nice man. He could obviously sound great with whatever he uses but I do dig these tones, for sure.

The tones are pretty good and I can see it being a useful tool but I'm still not hearing tones that make me want to give up a good tube amp.

His lead playing just makes me laugh. Congratulations, you can play faster than 99.9% of the population on Earth. Now go learn to play with some feel and emotion. He's one of the most boring shred guitarists ever IMO.
