Ralph,
I really think Gain Deli is a freaking genius and he is always messing with all of us. We jump all over him and he comes up with something else that is hilarious and off on another tangent. Plus he always has killer gear. When I was looking for an ADA Flanger the guy had 3 or 4 of them and they were all like mint and some of them were 1st release ones with the rarest chip in it too.
I have heard great things about the Guytron stuff but have never tried one and Gain Deli is swearing by his. The Guytron guy worked for Brent at Guitar Oasis in the 90's and I swear Brent's vintage Marshall collection in that store was literally like walking into a time machine at Marshall in about 1968 or 1969. If God collected Marshalls he would have been jealous of Brents Marshall stock in that store. Guy worked on and serviced all those amps before Mark Cameron started working there. That's why I am intrigued.
PLus, I don't know why that XBox 360 thing just killed me. It was at a time when no one could reach Mark or Chris on this forum and people were getting restless and posting all kinds of threatening and angry stuff and jcoopercameron kept posting crazy questions about modding this and that right in the face of that storm. Come to think of it, he might be funnier than donbarzini if you "get him"

A lot of you are located in the LA area,so I'm sure you have some accurate sources.Guy told me the story...but I thought he said it was prior to the first Van Halen release? Oh well... I've never actually met Guy,so I don't know how old he is? I do know that he's one of the most knowledgeable (and nicest) builders I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with.(I hear that Guy Hedrick is a seriously SMOKING guitar player!)
Guy also said that Eddie uses an old "script" MXR Distorion pedal... Has anyone heard that before? I've seen some pics of his pedal board, but nary-an-MXR Distortion pedal to be seen.
I'm thinking now that if Mark did "document" the work done to Eddie's amp while he was at Bogner, did he "document" the work done by Guy Hedrick? Guy did say that the amp was basically stock when it was brought to him, except for the cap,and transformer changes.I don't know if you would consider that as being "modded"? Mark would know,as he was able to inspect the circuit himself.
My opinion on Mark's "Jose" mods stand... I don't know why he gives credit to Jose A's work, when Mark is clearly a superior builder! The 100 watt Carlsbro was a KILLER amp! Best "plug-n-play" amp I've ever owned next to my Shiva, and Guytron.Mark is clearly in the ranks of the greats! I've decided to consolidate my rig down to keeping my Bogner "Shiva" 80 watt,my Guytron GT100 FV,and purchasing a CCV-100.I would like to have a CCV-100 built with Heyboer transformers, instead of the MM's though... I wonder if Mark would do that?
What would be cool is to have an "Amp Build-Off"! All the greatest amp builders would submit their creations,to be judged by local and celebrity players. The top 3 builders would then collaborate on a custom designed "Super-Amp"! The top 3 builders would then have to compete against one another in a game of (something) to win the rights to produce a "production" version of the "Super-Amp"! Just a thought...
BTW-I have a couple of really nice Reticon based Flanger's on ebay now.
