I can say im officially done with reverb.

I was aware of the fee increase however what caught me by surprise is that they no longer use paypal? I tried to find the other reverb thread but its early and my brain.

So I listed all my shit for sale as you may have seen and put even more of it on reverb. Well I sold a pedal. I went to transfer the funds and ship when I saw a 0 balance. Wtf.

So i looked and saw the guy used apple pay. At the time I was like ok what the hell is apple pay? I dont like apples and I only accept paypal.

Yeah, well after a little digging I saw. They now hold your money hostage. Sorry Reverb, too many shady people out there these days.

I pulled all my ads and refunded the buyer. Sucks for him and I feel bad but im not doing business that way. Maybe im old and don't want change but I refuse to have my money held hostage this day and age.

RIP Reverb.

Please educate me if I am missing something here.

Reverb has been running a lot of people off recently.

It sucks because that was absolutely my #1 place for a successful sale however on the same hand I laugh and hope they lose all customers and go OOB.

I have no idea what Etsy paid for it but I would love to see a shit corporation pay millions, make horrible changes and sink to the very bottom.

I mainly just sell here or TGP. I've never sold on Reverb and haven't sold on eBay for many years. Lately though I've gotten into the Facebook guitar groups and have sold a few things via that as well. Buying an amp this weekend from a semi-local guy who I found on Facebook group as well.

Yeah, ive been using FB for a while.

In all honesty Rig Talk is the only forum worth posting on. I may have had a transaction or 2 MAYBE on other forums but 99% rig talk.

As far as FB it is what it is. I live in Missouri where most people are either meth heads offering you bullshit offers or just not into the same type of gear.

I understand people are going to low ball but it gets really old answering question after question when you know the guy was never going to buy in the first place.

I do like the no hassle auto decline feature that Reverb offers. Sad times.

Edit: Regarding TGP. That does seem like the #1 spot but I couldn't ever get down with paying their fees to sell there. I'm surprised people do it TBH, AFAIK it doesn't offer either party any protection at all. I guess I'm a cheap bastard but I just don't flip enough gear to warrant that.

STL Craigslist music gear page is one of the worst things in the world. The same items listed over and over..some for YEARS. Full of guys "wantin' what dey paid for it".

I finally ran into problems with Reverb this year (after years of no significant problems)...it's no longer a place I do any serious business on. I'm keeping my account for just small purchases for convenience (like harder to find accessories for small $$$), and that's it.

I use the reverb payments and have never had an issue. I haven't sold anything in months though. I'm not opposed to selling on reverb again but I've just posted the stuff I'm moving here and on tgp for the time being because I'm more interested in trades. Sucks to hear things going that way for you

I pulled everything back when they announced the fee increase. Fuck those POS.

Tbh the increase didnt bother me so much as the holding your money thing. That is something I just can't get on board with but I understand people not willing to pay the extra fees.

It really is lol.

I mean I try to get what I can, I am definitely not into giving my gear away for free but typically I price my items fair, if not sometimes the absolute lowest price available and I still get obscene offers.

I price a little higher now as I fully expect nothing but lowballs.

I had one yesterday as a matter of fact. My 6505+ half stack is on FB for $800. Will separate. NO TRADES!!!

I get a how much for the head? $600. Then more questions, then are you sure you won't trade? I have a Marshall.

Damn.

Well good for Chicago Music. It sucks but at the same time who could blame them for selling at that price?

It's like $15 for a year. Helps offset the price of running the forum. How much in fees do you pay Reverb to sell a piece of gear. Probably at least $15 for a single transaction.

That's not that bad. I thought it was $50. And yeah easily more on reverb if you sell a nice guitar or an amp or something big.

Depends on the level you buy. The cheapest is all you need to post in classifieds

is this just for sales? i just bought a guitar, and paid via my PP acct.

either way...i'm down to CL for my trying to sale gear... where i can meet folks straight up.. just too many risks with shipping and ...meh.

funny....my oldest is in college. she needed some cash (if you can fathom)..anyway she wanted me to applepay'it to her. me being the old, set in my ways bastard, said it's PP or nothing lol.

Honestly I have no idea.

All I know is I think I had it set to paypal only for years. Then all the sudden I get this apple pay. No funds showing anywhere so I said screw this im done.

Didn't authorize apple, wasnt even really sure what the hell it is and not looking to jump through hoops and have my money sit in limbo.

I too bought a guitar cable a couple of weeks ago and pretty sure I used paypal. So I really have no idea whats going on.

The problem now is with the new owners. It isn't possible to reach customer service on the phone anymore to get some help or an explanation. Soooo yeah fuck that.

eBay is in the process of rolling out the same type of payment system. Seller doesn't get their money until a tracking number is entered for the item.

My issue with Reverb is that their customer service has disappeared. Them holding the money until tracking is provided is the way it should work, and I say that as someone that sells far more on there than I buy.
