honestly I can't answer that cause I would have to hear one of those Dookie Mod ones in person.
All i know is that i love how this tone sounds (crunchy/defined/thick/roaring like a mofo)

im sure lots of it has to do with billy joe playing with a lots of feel/attitude and being a great hard hitting rhythm guitarist ( his influences are all great players). If you watch pre-dookie era videos he uses a Fender Bassman and has awesome tone back then too
now that i think about it... the Splawn might be too high gain to pull that tone off accurately
Once I got the feel of the gain on my promod ive never gone passed 11 o clock on gain (in 2nd or 3rd gear) same goes with the QR.
Infact I think my gain is slightly passed 9oclock on my PM(3rd gear)
either way... someday I want one of those dookie mod marshalls haha
