I am completely new, but learn fast. I met a local amp tech/builder who offered to teach me, but asked for me to start reading about basics...any tips on where to start?

this is a plain breakdown and an easy read starting out. Then go to Merlin Benclowe books

This is a really good book. It also teaches you about the circuits and the effect on tone. Really what you want to learn is how not to die so just pay attention to the voltages and then the rest is learning recipes that work. I tinker but that's it. I just make sure I don't die.
