And still nothing from Jackson…

(Especially interested in the MIJ line)….

If the wall is outputting 120 and you drop it by 3 volts to 117 volts, and then the wall power spontaneously drops by 5 volts to 115 volts, well now the voltage regulator is outputting (115 volts - 3 volts) 112 volts.

If this Brownie thing lets you set a target voltage and it automagically adjusts itself to maintain that no matter what the wall is putting out… that is seriously cool.

Edit: makes me wonder if these things are also suitable for stuff like computer equipment, which also can be sensitive to voltage dips and spikes.

Exactly. And after reading up on it, I think it's another step up/down transformer. Not a regulator.
