Any TC Electronic Corona Chorus users?

A little bit of a resurrection, does anyone else find their Corona Chorus suffers a bit of a popping noise when switched on or off in true bypass mode?

my corona chorus emits a squeal when it's switched off and on a crunch/gain channel. though that could also be my ratty old cables since it doesn't have that problem on a clean channel (and since i only use chorus on clean stuff anyway, it's not really a concern and could likely be an isolated incident, but just something worth noting).

that being said, i enjoy it. i've tried many other chorus pedals and found they either had too little or too much oomph and often gave me a more thin, processed sound as opposed to the simple sparkle i was looking for. as others have stated, the corona is nice and subtle and has enough tweakability to fatten up and brighten your tone without overtaking it. i don't have the patience to deal with the toneprint feature, so i basically stick with the chorus and tri-chorus modes which work just fine for me. it's definitely not an 'endgame' pedal, but for its price, features, and sound (for my particular applications), it's definitely the best i've tried compared to its peers, and good enough to stay on the pedalboard until i feel like taking a leap on some $400 boutique crap.

Try a Neunaber Chroma if you want chorus without the warble. It's more like an Eventide Detune-in-a-box.

Can get a very wide sound if you use it 100% wet in a wet/dry setup.

I just found the corona too shallow. When someone tells me it can do a tri-chorus I'm expecting serious 80s style LA chorus and it just wasn't lush enough for me. I just couldn't get it wet enough (that's what she said!)

That's part of their marketing hype, just by mentioning "tri-chorus". Technically it simultaneously runs three choruses slightly out of time with each other, but ain't the same as the tri-stereo chorus.

TC Electronic style chorusing is relatively shallow right off the bat. That's part of its advantage to some that want a light and airy chorus, and disadvantage to others that want a fuller, wetter swirly sound.

The 'serious 80s style LA chorus' is more than just a chorus effect, it's a heap of processors including detuning harmonisers and delays layered with the expensive tri-stereo chorus unit that's pretty damn complex in its own right.
The guitar pickups and compressors and EQs add a lot to the sound too.

Funnily enough though you can approximate it with a few Boss effects pedals.
Or try some fancy things with a bunch of different chorus pedals in parallel and series to get that huge ripple effect.

Funny nobody mentioned the Boss DC 3 as a wicked subtle Chorus for gain tones, 5 years ago!!!!!! It is awesome. No warble as it is a detune effect, love mine.

I have a Corona too and i absolutely love it, either very deep and warm or subtle and bright.

Still have a Boss CE 5 that i just cant sell, had it forever and sounds wicked.

I love chorus. I put that shit on everything. I'd put it on my turkey sandwiches, if I could figure out how.
My favorite chorus was in my old tc electronic G*major rack unit.
Sadly, it died recently, so I no longer can use it. The chorus in the KATANA is not as good, but it works ok.

I have a corona for clean tone only. For that 80's lead and rythems I use the luxe detune. Imho it gets very close to that sound. Check out the demos on you tube.

Check out the Providence Anadime Chorus. just got one and it is awesome

The corona is to me a very lack luster pedal. I even downloaded the CE-2 tone print and it just doesn't have it. I built a small board for my living room jams and put an Ibanez mini chorus on it and really like it believe it on not!

I have a Corona Chorus on my board right now as well. I was underwhelmed by the "Tri-Chorus" setting stock on the pedal, but i played around with my own custom toneprint and it really turned the pedal into a beast. They have tone prints that try to replicate the Boss CE pedals (which I also have), but I prefer the Corona to them now.

Expect to be underwhelmed if you try the stock pedal. The Normal "Chorus" setting is okay, but the toneprint is where the pedal comes to life. You can alter the delay/decay/modulation to make it as wet as you want.
