Love the am deluxe - the dlx appointments imo are worth the extra $$ I got a great deal on mine - traded a flextoneIII for it from a newb at GC

Dont play it as much as the lp tho ;)

GOD DAMN That's beautiful!! If I had the cash you'd have a PM!!

I absolutely love the Am. Dlx. They look great and play like butter. The only thing I have a problem with is the humbucker. It is WAAAY to hot and gritty sounding. But I do like the noiseless cobalt singles. The American Deluxe is much darker and thicker sounding than the standard strat. Probably not the best choice if you want that vintage strat sound, but a killer versatile guitar nonetheless. I don't miss my Les Paul or Explorers one bit.

The Deluxes are a bit nicer IMO. Still we're talking about a mass produced instrument. Go play as many as you can and fine the one with the nicest tone.

Any clips you feel like posting would be appreciated :D

As far as the pickups go, a lot of the reviews I've read have said the same thing - they are a little weak and thin. Many reviews said the the S-1 switching just creates weird, not necessarily good, tones
They're not weak and thin sounding by any means... They're just flat on cleans and mid gain, like they dont have quite the sparkle or quack that vintage style singles have. :)

Here is a clip of the SCN's into my Superbass, pushed by an SD-1, double tracked. This is when I had g12h30's in my 4x12:

Pretty much the SCN bridge pickup the entire time.

Wait isnt that a 50th Anni Dlx like mine? Of course mines backwards... :D

Yes Shea mine's a 50th Ann, I don't why I chopped it in half and said 25th

Maybe subconsciously I wish I had a 25th Ann Strat

Or you could give it to me.....what a beautiful guitar.

What's the fret size on those....are they bigger or smaller than the Highway Ones?

They're the regular medium jumbo frets. :)

I havent played a highway 1 Strat though so I cant compare. :aww:

My buddy has a American Deluxe fat strat, great playing guitar. Plays like butter. If he ever sells it I will buy it, even though I don't need another strat. I do find it plays a bit better than my 2 american strats, but I haven't done a head to head.

I do like the SCN pickups, I have them in one of my strats. To me they sound good for clean and mid gain, I like that they actually work for higher gain. I guess I am willing to give up a bit to have versatility. My other 2 strats are fat strats, so there you go....

Nice clip

I'm thinking I may pull the trigger on the Am. Deluxe today :aww:
AMS's Easy Payment Plan is sucking me in

I dont think you will regret it. They are great guitfiddles. Even Digitaljams will agree with me. :D

Get it.
I have one.
Sunburst with a black pickguard.. I put a JB in it and moved the volume down to the first tone pot so I wouldn't keep hitting it.
I'm a hard strummer.
It's my go to guitar.

I don't know why, but I'm drawn to the SSS configuration

It seems like it would be more versatile with HSS, but I don't know

Since I have only owned guitars with a 2-humbucker setup in the past, what are the advantages/disadvantages to having a single coil in the bridge as opposed to a humbucker?

I have 3 strats, 2 with SSH and one with SSS. The ones with the humbucker in the bridge are more versatile. I have recently found that coil splitting the bridge humbucker works pretty well. Still a SSS is considered by many to be the true Strat sound and positions 4 and 5 with a single coil are great.

If you are going to use this to compliment your HH guitars than get the 3 single coils, if you are going to use this as a main guitar, than get the humbucker in the bridge, but I would think about coil splitting it....
