I didn't start this thread to start a shitstorm or anything like that. I noticed that they have the plus amps now, and the SST amp. Was interested in the REV1Plus cause I like 6550 tube amps. Was just wondering if it had more gain and less rip your head off treble than the original Rev1...

Check out the Nineteen80, more of a classic tone yet very aggressive, two 6550's for 80watts.

go buy a peavey 5150/6505 and that will solve everyones problems..

I you ever get a chance, try a Krank Rev 4x12. One of the best sounding cabs I've ever heard. Those V12's are great speakers too. This coming from a V30 guy.

Dude krank amps are badass! I have an array of different guitars some with emgs,Duncan blackouts, Duncan Distortions, etc Anyway, I've heard a ton of bad reviews and I have to tell you I have a krank rev1 and it kills. But I will say this the amp is really only useable at louder volumes. I did just get a mxr wylde distortion to throw in front of it not that it needs it but hopefully I can lower my volume and use it more at a living room volume. Well see.... But whoever gives a krank a bad review seems to work for another company or something cuz the amp is killer. And I know tony personally super nice guy and he's been nothing but helpful with anything I've asked him. So that's my review.

I had a Rev 1 for awhile and I really did like it! I sometimes think about getting one of the + models to check out. Had a Krankenstein for a minute....all I'm sayin well..ok....It just wasn't my thing at all...bright and tinny, fizzy etc,etc

I am not sure you really got your original questions answered.

Nope, never did.

Are you serious? You are trollin' hard, because I clearly responded to your question of "which model?" with a response of Rev+.

W...T... F...???

Note to self: Don't give serious consideration to tone advice from TeleBlaster...

Figured out the volume issue. The krank rev1 smokes. And now at living room volumes lol but seriously who ever trashes these amps either can't play guitar or has a crappy esp ltd or insert name here or have no idea how to tweak an amp. Alot like dumb blonde driving a Ferrari sure the car looks nice but she has no idea what's it capable of. That's a krank amp. It will smoke a 5150,5150/2,6505,6505+,and to be honest I owned an engl powerball and I think it's as good or better. I always thought an engl sounded real sterile. I bought mine for a little over 5 bills, sold my 5150 ASAP! And I guarantee you I'll never buy another 5150 again.

LOL... I've owned American PRS, Gibson, and Fenders... and for my money the two ESPs and one Ltd (Gus G), not to mention the hoard of Ltds that I've owned in the past sounded every bit as good for hard rock and metal. As long as good pickups are used, the tone comes MUCH more from the amp than it does the guitar in these styles of music.

In regads to the Engl Powerball, I currently own a Powerball 2 and for hard rock/metal, I'll take it over the Bogner XTC, Twin Jet, VHT UL, Elmwood M60 or H&K Triamp that I've owned or had in my possession ANY day of the week. I have no comment on the Krank though, as I've never plugged into one. But these discussions are always pointless... because we all hear things differently and like different things.

OMG ... resurrected from a year ago!

To clarify, the Shiva has nice cleans and probably the best reverb I've ever heard.

Spent about an hour with it at volume, the dirt channel absolutely sucks with or without pedals in front.

Played the Shiva side-by-side with a Rev1, first time playing either of the amps. I bought the Rev hands down. The Revolution replaced a 5150.

WOW. Talk about YMMV.

I have a 20th Anny Shiva and the dirt channel is absolutely killer.

I don't know what kind of music you're playing, but plug a nice LP or Strat into the 20th Anny and you've got amazing rock tones.

The Shiva I tried was the 6L6 model, in about 2005-06.

I know of no amp that everyone universally loves or hates.

I just don't see the point of threads bashing a certain name brand, and judging the character of people who may have a different preference than your own.

OK, very different beast than the 20th.

Agreed.

I didn't realize this thread was for simply bashing Krank amps. So, I went and read the OP, and I still don't read the OP's post as being solely about bashing. He actually conceded that the clean channel was quite nice.

With the exception of the thread title - which might be construed as being inflammatory - I struggle with how this thread is any different than any other thread soliciting opinions on a given amp?

Admittedly, I haven't invested the time to read every post in the thread, but I also do not plan to.

Fair enough. Some of the posts a year ago were very inflammatory, I guess that's what got me cranked up.

I think you meant "Krank'ed Up"! ;)

Carry on!

I did consider it.. but didn't want to throw any more gas on the flames... LOL

Oh, as a followup:

I did buy a Nineteen80 head in late November 2011 and for rock, hard rock, anything short of full on metal I am still totally loving this amp after 10 months of playing it almost daily.

Also, trying to get a Revolution head to fluff191 to do a review on his youtube channel. Hope I can work it out!

I'd like to hear it. I have honestly never played a Krank amp. I don't know that there are many floating around up here in Canada. You certainly don't see them pop up used too often (if ever).

Lol do you post just to post? Lol I know for a fact you're tone deaf if you think an ESP ltd doesn't sound thin. As I've owned a few and wouldn't use them for firewood. Lol and no one cares about your collection of crap amps lol and why you post and then say you've never played a krank is retarded. I would also assume you sit and practice vixen on the edge of a broken heart. Lol I just wanted to post on here once cuz everyone bashes krank. So that's all for now.
