I can't get comfortable on that body with no forearm contour though.

How is that different than a typical LP? I thought the EB felt more comfortable on my forearm than an LP.

I have always loved the EB necks. I can't get comfortable on that body with no forearm contour though. And I LOVE how maple sounds on basswood with a maple neck
Have you tried a Silhoutte?

Comfy contoured body and a great neck shape. I agree with the comments about the slightly uncomfortable Axis body shape, I've owned two Axis' and I prefer the Silhoutte. Especially if you are standing while playing them (at gigs), sitting down at home I didn't notice it as much.

Funny, I was playing a bunch of different guitars today and I was just thinking that EB really knows how to make a great feeling neck....it feels like home for me.

Love the Axis. Dont love the pickups though(at least in mine). Thinking of switching the bridge to a VHPAF. Just want something with a less bottom, and more presence.

I have a VPAF (not hot) set that I bought to try in my EVH, but I put it back to stock. Cool sound, but I ended up preferring stock. Haven't tried the VHPAF yet...

Having owned several , Ive come to the conclusion that theyre some of the best sounding guitars that I have ever played but the necks are weird to me; AWESOME for Chording and rhythm but for solo and single note stuff, I dont really like them that much...

ernie ball necks are sweet. If the nut was just a smidgen wider, i'd be sold. and i have an irrational dislike of sig models, so the petrucci is out...

I think that the guys who like smaller necks like the Axis neck shape. It's really a lot different from a wide Ibanez style neck. I don't have big hands so i guess that's why i dig the Axis. The Wolfgang isn't bad but it's slightly bigger than the Axis.

Does the Silhouette have a slightly fatter neck than the Axis. I played a few and liked them but the necks felt a little different.

My EVH and Sil necks are pretty darn close. But there's a lot of hand-finishing done to the necks, so they can vary a bit. I had an EVH that was crazy asymmetrical (sp?) Big fat bass side and thin treble side. My other EVH is pretty much totally even from bass to treble.

i dunno. i like ibanez-style speed necks, and i also like the axis neck profile... i just wish it were a bit wider.

i actually have the measurement at each fret for the erniebal EVH musicman guitar if anyone wants them.

I played Amplifires EB EVH yesterday and everytime i pickup an Axis i feel that these necks were made for me. They feel like an old pair of sneakers. On the other hand, i really dislike the wide Ibanez type neck profiles  I can deal with the fat Gibson necks though but i like the necks on the LP Customs as they're not that fat.

That Reb Beach Suhr neck profile is nice but i still like the Axis better.

You summed it up about right there, the best necks in the business are EBMM and the Suhr Reb Beach. Personally I prefer the Silhouette to the Axis, but they are both crazy comfortable!

I love the necks on the Van Halens, have never felt a axis but I loved them for the old sneaker feel! The body was a pain since my Italian oily body made the finish come off.
