Lucky bastard, oh I mean "thats nice your enjoying your rare 20th xtc". Man these things sure are hard to come by on the used market, they don't even show up on ebay, only very rarely is seems.

There's no chance in HELL I'll ever sell this thing - ever. I'm not hanging here gloating, I'm just saying the tone is to die for outta this thing. Seriously, this thing is just outrageously sick.

There, I'm done - back to it

Not a bad price for the head - looks in dead mint condi, only thing is I'd want the EL34 version. But man, ya, I'd be tempted if I didn't have mine.

Just sayin'...

Did indeed... I just call the head the EL34 version to set it apart from the 6L6 one.

But ya, the Gold Lion glass is out-fkn-standing in this amp

Hey Ventura, how would you explain the differences the KT77's make in detail if you wouldnt mind? I have run =C='s and now have EL34 BHT's and it sounds awesome but want know if the KT's will make it even better for me and what I want before I spend big $$$$ on those GL's. Thanks

But Ventura. The xtc is dark, muddy and sounds like a wet blanket is over it :dunno:

Sure thing - little more sparkle, the notes are livelier, and overall it just seems a touch more open and rich - still retains its presence, still retains if not adds some shine - but as a fellow Bognerite explained to me, with the Gold Lion KT77s, the notes just 'dance' off the cabinet a little more. I couldn't agree more. They sound incredible - and this was a very noticeable difference immediately. Will I go back to EL34s? Maybe for a change, but I think as it stands right now - I'm sticking with the KT77s by Gold Lion. It really took an already incredible amp and just added some WOW to it even more.

To each their own, however... Your ears may say differently.

Peace,
Mojo

I would agree with this 100%. ;) The mids are tighter and punchier. They come out of the cab and do the jig in the room before smacking you in the face. At first you're like wtf was that and then you go back and hit that pinch harmonic again just to be sure.   I thought so. Where the hell did that come from. Rush back to swap your Winged C el34's back in. No way. Yep way. GL77's all the way. Never coming out again. I miss my 20th.

Yep, GL77s + 20thA.... Simply awesome.

glip, what happened to yer amp!??!?!?! Why'd ya dump??

Not good. Sorry man...

Obviously hasn't tried a 100B which is what the 20th XTC tries to be but will never be.

If this were actually true Bogner would still be building them.

Make no mistake Reinhold is a businessman and the 100B would be cheaper to make than the 20th yielding him a greater return.

This is an old argument.

BTW: - I own an XTC 100B, 20th XTC 101A & 20th XTC 101B, 20th Shiva, Goldfinger 45/90

Quite an arrogant statement... If this were true, Reinhold would've kept manufacturing these a LONG time ago. The 100b ship has sailed and Reinhold just watched it go by.

The issue with the 100 is this, you can't run the relays that allow for the versatility with that circuit. Especially with the variac which is a big part of the 100b vibe. Are there some people who would dig that more than the current offerings? Yep. Me included. But that isn't where the market is. The Fish proved that. It is like Libertarianism. A great political/economic philosophy? Sure. But the broad market will never buy it en masse.
