Anyone remember the Peavey Penta? I remember playing one at namm when they came out and thought is sounded really good. Wondering if anybody has real world experience. TIA

I tried on out in a store back in the day. I thought it was a really interesting amp. If I saw one cheap, I'd jump on it. I kinda think it would be good for stoner/doom sorta stuff.

I remember them, there was one at one of the local stores forever

They ended up firesaling it for like 300 bucks or something

I remember it sounding good, but not exactly my style of gain

I got mine for $400 new around 15 years ago. I have 2 of the Penta 4x12's in storage. They're both loaded with Celestion 75's. I got those from GC for $200 each in excellent condition. It's a good amp. Sounds great boosted. Beyond Black likes to hate on it! 😂

It was designed as a George Lynch model, and despite his classic gear-whoring most of the stuff he (almost) put his name on is pretty good. The Penta is no exception, it´s a good amp. The second mode rotary probably was a mistake, leading people to think it was a two-channel amp. It is much more viable as a single-channel. Haven´t played one in fifteen years, though!
