Anyone running a Randall RM4 modular preamp thingy?

The TopBoost module clip is on the overdrive side, are there any clean, jangle, chime clips of the TopBoost?

stratotone, I saw a mod to lower the gain on the Top Boost module, an AC30 mod. Do you have clips of that?

Clips I linked to have that as part of the mod - along with replacement of some parts in the signal path that I prefer the sound of. My clips are pretty jangly, IMHO. Look above in the thread where I posted the link.

I got some serious gas for this thing now, but as with all gear, I need to hear it live before I jump. But for me this sounds like a great option instead of hauling around multiple rigs. Those of you that have this sort of setup, are you happier with effects from say a Gmajor, etc or you still running a slough of pedals in and out of the thing?

I use a TC G-system and couldn't be happier. I am in Florida, if you are near you are welcome to come check it out here

I was actually having a ton of fun with Vx and SuperV (Egnater and Randall Lynch resp.) over the weekend....going between jangle and not.

The chime and jangle on the Vx is all about interaction between the Mid and Treble controls....and secondarily gain.

The SuperV is all about the Gain..when it gets above 1 o'clock..really starts to drive and the Jangle turns into this acoustic like tone on the top...2 o'clock and up plus a turn of the treble/mid controls..it does a convincing Hendrix impression IMO.

I have 3 'Vox' modules including the Top Boost (but none of the Gold? Blue? sexy speakers) .. all sound a little different IMO....with the Vx being the most flexible, just coz it has two channels.

I missed the second page of links the first time round and I heard your clean Vox - Sweet. Is that a mod on the Top Boost? It sounds like the original AC30 before or without the top boost circuit. Can this be done using the Bright switch? e.g., have your Vox clean when the brite switch is off, and have the Top Boost (Vox overdrive) with the brite switch on, or am I crazy for asking? That Vox Clean mod is saaa-weeeeetttt!

I have a used RM4 on the way with a few modules. Once I'm sure it will work with the rest of my setup I'll be in the market for a Top Boost, Super V and Plexi (at least).

(FWIW, I'm really hoping this RM4 is it for my tone search, I'm so tired of chasing tone (and losing money in the process)! If not, there's about $10K + in amps that I'll want that I can't even begin to think about affording, no less having room for either!)
