Anyone Still Using a G-System?

With all the available options for effects, switchers, modellers, etc., I'm considering one of these for convenience. Was just wondering if anyone is using one and if the effects are still on par with what is out there currently.

You bet, i just got a second one about a month ago, loooove it. I am using it WDW so it is perfect, i didn`t have to go through the whole setup process, witch can be a pain but once done properly, it smokes.



Effects are pretty awesome, very clear and crisp. Not quite Eventide standard but close.

I love mine. Super easy to program, effects sound great, built like a tank. Particularly when you factor in the prices they're going for these days, it's a great option for an all-in-one unit.

My only criticism is that the pitch shifter can be a bit dodgy at times.

I'm thinking about this too. It's my g major 2, Midi Raider foot controller, and effect gizmo all in one. The only thing that stopped me before is I like to have more than 5 presets quickly available at any given time. Now I just don't care about that.

Yes sir! Still using 2 of them. I use the black iB modified version for my gigging rig and keep my red limited version at our practice room. I have the Fractal FX8 and I still prefer my G-System. The Fractal is a superior unit sound wise and for it's flexibility in FX routing pre and post but the G-System is hands down a superior unit in it's overall use and looks. I can't stand the small buttons on the FX8. My big ole Frankenstein feet end up hitting more than the button I want to hit. The layout of the G-System is much better. Some people have impedance, hum and tone suck issues with the G and their amp. It does not pair well with some amps but I use EVH amps and I've never had any of those issues. Didn't have them when I was using the original Peavey 5150 before the EVH line came out either. The FX8 is a superior unit sonically but not enough to overcome the build quality of the G-System for me. Bunch of drunk people in a crowd at 1am aren't going to be able to tell the difference in FX quality. LOL! But I'm still going to keep the FX8. It is a great unit I just prefer the G-System for gigging.

just watched an ib modified g system on evilbay sell with one bid for 850.00..what a steal..Im still using mine despite better sounding units out there now...Agreed with 5150!

Oh crap, I think the G system may have been a good move for me. I have lots of pedals I still enjoy and could have worked it into the G loops. I did see someone complaining about tone suckage, but if Thorn is touring the world and is happy, I think I would have been happy.

You will love it. It sounds amazing. I'm just used to the big buttons and design of the G-System. It still works perfectly for me so it's a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it. But the FX8 sounds so amazing I'm not getting rid of it. Also, the FX8 editor software for your computer is AWESOME.

I would really like one however I had the G Major and it fell apart on me after about five years. I had it in my rack and all the knobs started falling off and the screen is messed up on it. The midi switching stopped working. Has anyone had the G system for a long time ? I really hate switching effect units when you find a good one. Just wondering how they hold up on the road for a few years.

Been using G-System's since 2009. They are built like tanks. I've had beer spilled on it and never had any issues. And you are correct about the buffer. You could have a wireless unit or a wah act as the buffer as well.

I've owned a G-major since 2004 or 2005. The screen is scrambled for the first 2-3 minutes when I turn it on but I have never had any issues with it functioning correctly. I tried a G-major 2 and did not think it sounded as good.

Ive been using the ib modified g since it came out-no issues..also used a g-force into one of my 2290's loops for many many years- flawless- no issues.

I just love that black one. What's different about the iB model?
