I found their site and I need to buy a bottle, but cant tell which one I need to buy since there are 5 different kinds. Would someone please look at these and help me pick the one I need for my application? I would really appreciate it alot.

Thanks, Chad

i just got a big can of generic electrical contact cleaner at the local dept. store and use it for everything.
it's worked just fine for me and is alot less expensive lol.

Thats cool, if this is the case guys... just set me straight!!! I dont want to overspend on the snakeoil bullshit if I dont have to, ya know! Thanks for the heads up.

I use CRC Mass Air flow sensor cleaner.. same stuff as contact cleaner except safe on computer sensors and ect in cars..

The best thing to do is use non residue contact cleaner but immediately spray deoxit faderlube in to lube the pots. Works great. You definitley need a lube.

So I would need the contact cleaner and faderlube? When I use it, your telling me to use the contact cleaner first and then put faderlube in the pot? Sorry for being a dipshit... just need some practice!

The contact cleaner by itself does a great job, but you need to lube also. Faderlube is also a contact cleaner but more of a lubricant. It works by itself but I find using both really does a great job. Yes, you spray in a little contact cleaner and then faderlube and then twist the knob back and forth. I use LPS plastic safe. Good stuff.

You may have got lucky and didn't have any problems, but I did the same thing 5 yrs or so ago and wandered into Home Depot and bought some and had disastrous results...ruining 5 pots on my old Carvin combo that melted when I sprayed them, resulting in having to replace them.

I bought some Deoxit after that and haven't had a problem since.

Deoxit is good stuff.
The reason being is that it does what it's supposed to and lubricates.
Most generic contact cleaners work, but they will strip down the metal and leave no protection/lube.
And a lot of generic contact cleaners have way too much tetracycline in it which can destroy plastic parts within the amp.
So be careful when it comes to buying this stuff.
You get what you pay for, and Deoxit will clean, flush and lubricate with way less spray than most generic brands.
YMMV

You'll want to use the DeoxIT "Power Booster".

I've also had good luck w/ the Radio Shack brand of component cleaner. About $10 / bottle.

Excellent advice guys... I am very greatful for the information!!!

Plus it also provides some anti-corrosion benefits.

I have the 1st bottle listed on the website.

Been using the same now for about 5 years and have had no issues, amps/guitars/pedals. Dam ! I'm paying $13/bottle here!

so, the Deoxit D5 is without lubricant and F5 with?

Exactly!!! I would like to know this myself... and would you use contact cleaner, or the Deoxit D5 first and then hit it up with some Deoxit F5 after? Sorry Im making this more complicated than it has to be!

D5 has lube, and is a cleaner also, I've had fantastic results with it.
I dont buy into the "power booster" hype, but it cleans and lubes really well.

So we can conclude Deoxit with lube is the shit to use for happy pots! :2thumbsup:

Deoxit is great. I use it on pots, faders, keyboards, etc.
I still like (and suggest) hitting things with a few blasts of canned air first. That way none of the dust turns to sludgey gunk inside your equipment.
