Man I love the crunch mode on the rhythm channel. I wish I could get the lead ch to be that full and punchy. My 5150 is pretty much a single ch amp for me now. I cant get myself off of it. This means I have no clean now but whatever. anyone else diggin the crunch better than the lead tone?

I used to use the crunch channel quite a bit when I gigged with the 5150. It sounds bad ass!

I just started messing with it. The lead ch sounds thin by comparison to me. plus the crunch mode has plenty of gain for me. This has just given me a new appreciation for this amp. Ive always liked it but damn :)

Try using an OD pedal in front of that channel, make sure you set the bass a bit higher than normal and the gain a bit lower.....a bias modded 5150 with an OD up front on the crunch channel is TITTIES!

Good man! Yea, get that bias mod done whenever you gotta retube that fucker and you'll be glad you did! Oh yea, it loooves the OD808 :)

A lot of metal bands use the crunch channel with a boost, and then use the lead channel as a clean.

I have been playing the Crunch + boost more lately..

when I had one I really like the crunch channel. I had one of the early 5150's

Here is a clip of my 5150 crunch mode. My band had rehearsal last night. We started writing a new tune and did a real quick recording of it. This is a notebook recording recorded live with a few mics and 1 take. My singers voice was crackin the entire time. It was funny

I like the tone. Nice and raunchy

Hell yeah man. When I started using the crunch channel, I honestly couldnt think of why I was using the lead channel. Its basically 1 channel for me too, but I use the lead for cleans when I need cleans. I also have a JSX, so if Im gonna play cleans, I just go to that amp. Ive got the crunch channel on the JSX sounding close to my 6505 crunch channel, but its still doesnt quite have the balls that the 6505 has. My 6505 is also a 212 combo that I modded into a head. I have tried a bunch of different boosts on it, and I think they neuter the amp. I have read that its different with a head than with the 212. Regardless, this thing is pretty much my perfect tone (so far).

Yeah the crunch mode is cool. Not that much different from the lead channel when cranked.

Mine was all stock, running them flat out they are biased just fine.
