It is a little noisier at the same volumes as compared to the Mods but not worth running the gate as I don't record or any of that so it's about BALLS!!!

I've always ran my master's on my power amps at 100%. I'm running my M4 at 12:00 oclock now. I use the Lexicon MPXG2's post volume (basically a volume right before the master output) as my "master volume".

I've ran my power amps at 100% for like 8 years now. Just a habit :)

+1 on the M4 master at noon. I run my TBR in low power triode mode at about 3-4 on the master for each channel and it sounds awesome. It just seemed to me that anything past noon seemed to adversely affect the tone. There is no "right" answer with this stuff. That's the beauty of the Mod series. Total tonal flexibility.

Ok the jury is back. I just tried amps at 100% and controled with the M4 master. Whoa WOW I like that much better. Really opened everything up with more headroom and sounds like it went from an AM radio to full stereo,ok it wasnt that bad . I thought it sounded great before, so much more open. Now i need those 6550 tube. :D

Because I just use mine at home /in my workshop I tend to run it through a small single ended class A 10w power amp that I had made for the purpose

It runs an EL34 (I use a Sylvania US made 6CA7) and allows me to have the poweramp set to a nice sweet spot and not have it too loud for the neighbours.
I get the big tube sound because I am using a full size tube rather than an EL84 amp which I find compresses a bit more than I'd like

Here it is :

I do also have a Marshall 9100 50w a side unit - but this is better suited volume wise for home use
