Apparently Marshal released a 20 watt JCM900

I'm probably mistaken, but doesn't Morello, John 5 and now Kiki Wong play 900's?
Morello plays 2205's.. Atheist he did.. I've seen J5 using JVM's, but know he used 900's too. Fuckface from Jane's Addiction did too. Can't remember his name, but he just reminds me of somebody you'd call Fuckface.

I thought the clips I've heard sounded pretty good on that Studio 900.

I go to a big hard rock and metal club pretty often and recently talked to Erik from Stephen Pearcy's band. They have 900s there and I think they belong to the club but most bands use the power amp.section and run some modeller or preamp into it.

I dig my Silver Jubilee Studio and glad I didn't get the other models instead. The Plexi seems too loud for my use and this has a bit more gain than the 800 if I heard that correctly.

Cool amps, made in England. I'm sure the JCM 900 Studio will sound better than an actual JCm 900.

I will say the OP’s video sounds pretty dam good, the original 900’s did not sound like that. Maybe it’s a reissue that’s made to sound like it should have in the first place 👍

I wouldn't mind picking one of these up used eventually. Had a 4500 years ago. 10 band in the loop and a little boost and they do old school metallica and slayer very well. Very tight and biting, but need an eq to fill out the low end. The old ones needed to be obcenely loud to sound best. Phil Campbell toured 900s with Motorhead for years. Fluff said he's going to be demoing one soon I beleive.

Not sure if anyone saw one of the comments on the video...
@RiffsAndBeards
A little inside baseball, Marshall intentionally made it not have that top end fizz the old 900's had and is voiced a bit more modern. So it's like a slightly updated version of a 900. Great video!

Anyone know why Marshall chooses to release versions of the presumably less sought after dual reverb 900s instead of the SLX and MkIII that are frequently recommended above them?

Because they prove over and over again that they are idiots and don't know how to read the room. :dunno:
