These cash seizures aren't random or from "evil cops stealing money." All of those stories you see which shows some 'poor innocent fellow driving across country to start a new life with $40,000 dollars in cash on him' and they get stopped and the cops 'steal' the money are bullshit for the most part. They happen when cops know a drug trafficker is transporting cash but have no real legal way of seizing it due to the information being based on unconstitutional search IE they have been spying on their communications illegally/get tipped off by DEA.
So on one hand, yeah it's cops doing shady shit, but on the other, they aren't stealing money from innocent people, these people are almost always drug traffickers.
People don't know the extent of all the illegal searches being done by even small town police departments, an awful lot of podunk towns have ways of hacking into peoples email and have Stingrays and tools like that and it's entirely common for them to be violating 4th amendment.
Scummy cops vs scumbags. Take your pick.

Those charges won't be tried in New York state that's for sure......

Since Congress has a 17 Million dollar taxpayer slush fund to pay out Sexual misconduct/Harrassment charges I doubt much if anything will happen that even looks like an investigation.......
